Swift X 16: SFX16-61G

In my old laptop, I was able to simply tap the power button, and it would immediately go into sleep mode.

I have gone through all the windows options, but it doesn't seem to possible, on this laptop, to set it up whereby hitting the power button immediately puts the laptop into sleep mode.

The only thing my power button can do is:

  1. Holding for ca. 1 sec → turn off screen or sometimes logout
  2. Long Press → Force shutdown

Any assistance is much appreciated.

They didn't really hide it, but often it seems so… Open Control Panel (Not settings) and go to the Power Options. Click on "Choose what the power buttons do" on the left side, then select the behavior you wish.

Click on "Like" if you find my answer useful or click on "Yes" if it answers your question.

@billsey Thanks for the help. I should have made it explicit that I went through those settings. But the problem remains. Do you think my power button is faulty? It doesn't work on quick presses just the longer presses that I mentioned, i.e. ca. 1-2 seconds and a long press.

Has anyone else experienced this with the power button on this model?

The power button should act like any other key on the keyboard. You shouldn't have to do anything special to press it. It does have the fingerprint sensor built in, so you also use it without pressing. But a key click is a key click.

Ok, so it is malfunctioning. When I press it like any other key it does nothing.
