Is it possible to upgrade Avero AV15-51 Screen...

…to one that is brighter and more colour accurate? The laptop is pretty good overall (i5-1155g7) but the screen is just not. Is there a better screen that will fit this laptop? It is more affordable and less troublesome for me to get a better screen for it than a whole new laptop. I do not want a desktop monitor it is not practical for laptop use :)

Thank you for any assistance!

    Hi,

I think it's possible but I couldn't find anyone upgraded the panel in this model, so you will be doing as an experiment but the details I have given are correct, the difficult part is removing the double sided tape, you need to buy the panel and few tools if you don't have them, the tools needed are shown in the panel removal video below, you also need to buy the double sided tape easily removable,

When you order for the new panel, make sure to get a confirmation from the retailer that the original panel in stock and you will not get another brand of compatible panel, otherwise they advertise AUO panels and will sell you a compatible panel made by another manufacturer(probably cheaper and the charge you AUO panel price), this happens mainly in ebay.

You can use AUO B156HAN 02.4 panel, it's compatible.

This video is for another model but I wanted to show you the procedure which is very similar:

I have changed many panels on older laptops with brackets, not double sided tape so will be careful thanx again :) Can I also ask. this panel seems same but even brighter AUO B156HAN02.9 (400nit vs 300nit) would it work?

You are welcome 😀 according to the Panelook site it's compatible if you scroll down the page of compatible panels it's listed, so I wouldn't mind trying because power requirements for all panels similar enough, so I think you will be fine but it will be a pain if it doesn't work, another detail missing for this panel is adobe RGB values, so you have to take in to account, if you don't mind repeating the procedure, give it a try, otherwise, you may have to send the panel for a replacement, you know the retailers in your country better than me, so decide wisely comparing the price of the panel as well because 300nit is much better than a 220nit panel.

Yes, you are right about the colour not being listed being one possible problem - I will have to research a little more :) Also it looks like buying from panelook is not a simple process so I will have to see if I can find the panel model somewhere more accessible. I have found the number, but none of them say specifically that they are AUO panels so possibly they are "equivalents" which I do not want since quality can vary so much between manufacturers.

It sure will be nice when some big laptop manufacturers start putting good screens in mid range laptops instead of just their most expensive models! I'm sure there are more regular folks like me without "business secrets" or whatever it's supposed to protect, who would rather have a good screen on their laptop before such things as fingerprint readers and facial recognition lol!

Thanks again for all your help brummyfan2 :)

No problem, I forgot to mention that Panelook don't sell these panels but they test and compare them, yes, you do a little bit more research and try to upgrade, good luck with the upgrade👍️

You're right; that color isn't in the list of potential issues—I've got some homework to do. Also, purchasing from Panelook isn't easy, so I'll just seek the panel model elsewhere. I found the number, but none of them claim to be AUO panels, and I don't want "equivalents" because quality is very different between producers.

It would be nice if larger laptop manufacturers could put good screens into mid-range laptops, not just really expensive ones. I mean, I'm sure plenty of people like me would choose a good screen over things like fingerprint readers and facial recognition.

The Acer Aspire Vero has a 15.6" Wide Screen LCD screen, with a resolution 1920x1080 and a refresher rate of 60Hz and this screen is connected to the mainboard with a 30 pin video connector plug from the screen to the mainboard screen plug. The better and higher quality screen all have 40 pin video connectors, so be aware of that, as you can get a 30 pin to 40 pin adapters so that you can upgrade to a higher resolution and refresher rate screen, but as you have been told there is no data on this screen update so you will have to experiment yourself. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
