Hello, Acer community.
I brought my acer nitro 5 at the repair shop few days ago, and the technician told me that the LCD was damaged, so I decided to replace it, however when he tried the new LCD, it does not match. So, he asks me to leave my laptop to him and get back after several hours— just until the new LCD arrived and installed. Unfortunately, after an hour when I leave my laptop to him, he messaged me that my laptop is not turning on already. He said that the problem is the PMW IC, which I don't have any idea about. He said that something shorted that affects my laptop's PMW IC. Does this problem have something to do when he tried to install the wrong LCD?

Don't know as Acer does not list this part or any part numbers for the Nitro AN515-55 mainboards either, as the best thing is to ask Acer in your country how to fix a shorted PMW IC or ask a good technician in your country.

The below diagram is from the Nitro 5 AN515-55 Acer service guide, it has NO mainboard part number, so even if you want to change the mainboard, there are no reference part numbers from Acer laptop.

Yes, The PCH controls certain data paths and support functions used in conjunction with Intel CPU. These include clocking (the system clock), Flexible Display Interface (FDI) and Direct Media Interface (DMI), although FDI is used only when the chipset is required to support a processor with integrated graphics., this chip is not available as a replacement part.

If you want a new/replacement Nitro AN515-55 mainboard, get this mainboards Acer part reference number from your old mainboard, as its written on there and search the web and at specialist Acer parts retailers like Zandparts etc as they should have a new mainboard for your laptop. Be aware that these Nitro AN515-55 mainboards are not cheap and in allot of cases and if you can't find a used board, the new board is more expensive than a used Nitro AN515-55 laptop on eBay, so be aware of that. Good luck.

Its got nothing to do with the cpu if its an i5 or an i7 as the NS monitors both cpu's the same. Download the AN515-55 NS version 3.01.3028 then open the folder and do this, as this worked with my Nitro 5 AN515-56 with NS when it refused to install after a Win-11 clean install and this method worked:

    1. open the NS version 3.01.3028 folder
    2. Open folder NitroSenseV3.1
    3. Click on this file

    4. Then you will get an Install app, then click Install, then see if NS is installed, if its not then go to the main folder Application > Setup and install NS from there too, as this should install NS on your AN515-55 laptop. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

What Nitro 5 model laptop do you have like AN515-xx as what the PMW IC does is that it rapidly turns a display on and off at a high frequency to achieve different brightness levels and its located on the power supply board of the mainboard and these parts are very hard to replace and/or find, insist that Acer fix this chip, but Acer does not change chips so they will only change your Nitro 5 mainboard, so be aware of this. This PWM IC chip could have also been shorted/damaged if the technician forgot to disconnect the main battery from the laptop and the laptop still had power when the eDP cable was disconnected, hence causing this damage to the laptop and the new screen (which happens often) and that is why it destroyed your laptop.

You can't prove this so this is a very unfortunate thing that has happened to you, as you should have gotten Acer to analyze your laptop first before getting a screen changed, as now you need a new mainboard to fix this PMW IC and screen issues. Also, a laptop not having an image can be a cause of an eDP LCD faulty cable or plugs or the screen plug pins shorting out at the mainboard plug that can be fixed by an experienced and knowledgeable technician. Unfortunately, you are stuck with a faulty mainboard. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Hello. May I ask regarding the PCH problem of acer nitro. The technician told me that the reason why my Acer Nitro 5 can't be switched on was the PCH thing. Is that true that pch has something to do with my unit's power? And is it possible to replace pch? or would it be better to change the whole main board?

    Thanks a lot.

By the way, may I know the possible causes of PCH damage?

Because the technician told me that my laptop's lcd has something to do with it's power, he said that my acer nitro's LCD damage was the reason of the PCH when he tried to replace the LCD.

    Hello, Acer community.

My laptop is fixed now. However, when I tried to install the Nitrosense app— it was not working— it says that my laptop does not support Nitrosense app.

Does it have something to do with my processor's upgrade? because when the technician changed the PCH, he said that core i5 wasn't available and so he installed core i7. Now my laptop is an Acer Nitro AN515-55 core i7. but I can't open the nitro sense app. I tried to uninstall it and install it again, however, I can't install it again it says that my computer doesn't support the app. But how come?

Hi, just wanna ask again about my laptop's nitrosense app. After replacing the PCH with core i7, it was Nitro 5 AN515-55 core i7 before, the nitro sense app isn't working anymore. It says that my computer does not support this app, but I was able to use this app before the repair.

Do you have the Care Center app installed? You can check the model number of the laptop again.
