After traveling on a plane with my laptop, where I noticed, it was extremely hot and did not power on, I am unable to power it up using a 65W power brick on the USB-C connector. I had put the laptop to sleep, as I have done on a daily basis, so I’m not clear why it heated up as it did.

There are no lights, when connecting it to the brick. Is it possible that the laptop is completely drained and requires the original power connector that came with the laptop?

Which Swift 3 model do you have? There have been a ton of different ones over the years. We can't even guess as to the power requirements without knowing which model it is. Your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like SF3xx-xxx-xxxx.

First, thanks for getting back to me. The model number indicated on the bottom of the laptop is N20C12, while the model number on the spec details, from a November 2023 purchase at Sam’s Club, is SF 314–511–707M.

In the meantime, I took the laptop to a PC repair shop where I was able to test using a 19V 3.28A power cord, but it was the same - dead! The sticker on the bottom of the laptop indicates that the DC input should be 19V 3.42A so still not sure if the original power cord would make any difference.

Thank you for any feedback you might be able to provide.

Hmm, the SF314–511-707M model number should have been on the same sticker as the SN and SNID. The 'N20C12' "model number", which is the one we don't have cross references for, is on a different sticker. Unless it was refurbished model (and I doubt Sam's Club offers refurbs) you should still be in warranty. Open a ticket with Acer support and have them fix it for you. Your system should charge using either the 65W power supply with the round barrel connector (65W at 19V) or using a USB-C charger (65W or higher at 20V).

Hello Bill, thanks again for your help. I retrieved the laptop from the repair shop and noticed that I had completely missed the SF3… model number and the SN/SNID numbers on the same sticker as the 'N20C12' reference number. The repair shop indicated the motherboard is fried, but that I could take the data off to a flash drive. Using your suggestion I attempted to open a repair ticket w/Acer, but had to start with a warranty update, including the proof of purchase from Nov 2023 because Acer shows the laptop as out of warranty. Based on other inquiries/responses on the Community page, would you suggest that I retrieve the data before sending the laptop back to Acer, as I expect that will be the next step? Let me know. Thank you!

Yes, I'd copy the data off before sending it in. They are likely to restore the original OS build if they replace the motherboard.
