I tried to update some of my drivers. When I restarted my laptop, it got past the Acer screen, made the noise like it was starting, but then the screen went blank.

I’ve tried starting the laptop in safe mode to roll back the drivers, but can’t see that option on the troubleshooting page.

Aspire 5 running windows 11

Hi @kahare you could try to load a restore point prior to installing those drivers, but it is necessary to access Windows, use the startup repair option in case it allows you to access it again:

    All the best.

Hi, the startup repair says it couldn’t repair my PC, and the system restore gives me this screen…

When I restart it, it doesn’t give me an option to select an operating system (I only have Windows 11) and doesn’t let me select System Restore. It just seems to start normally and then the blank screen

What are the drivers you installed that caused the problem?

I don’t know. I used some software to check my drivers and it suggested about 8 updates, which I downloaded, then reset the laptop to instal them. I feel like an ***** for not checking!

Create a USB from the Microsoft download page with the tool they provide and start an installation, follow the steps and on the first reboot you do the installation, remove the USB and check if you can access Windows.
If this doesn't solve it, do a full installation with USB.

    All the best.

Thank you! Downloading it now. Will I have to do anything to make my laptop boot from the usb?

Yes, press F12 repeatedly to get the boot menu and select USB.
You can also insert the USB with the computer turned off and turn it on, if the USB is created correctly, it will boot from the USB.

    Greetings.
