Hi all,

I would like to update the bios and was wondering if there was an easy way to check the current firmware and if I needed to update it if there is a good how to.

Thank you

The predator is Brand New

    Turn on Window11 automatic updating with advanced features (additional updates) and manually check for updates at least twice a month, you should be now on W11 23H2 build: 22631.2715. Windows Update will offer additionally BIOS. firmware and 3rd-party drivers before they are even announced on Support websites.

    BE WARNED - DO NOT UPDATE BIOS OR GPU FIRMWARE FROM WINDOWS UPDATES - AS THESE BIOS AND FIRMWARE UPDATES HAVE BRICKED MANY PCs AND WILL BRICK YOUR LAPTOP EVENTUALLY, DON'T TAKE THE RISK!

    Only use the Acer listed Predator PHN16-71 Product Support bios or gpu firmware or drivers listed updates for your laptop from that link for your laptop. Updating anything from Microsoft is a risk that is not worth taking as Microsoft updates are known to be faulty and NOT accurate and functional, this is even with their latest Win-11 Version 23H2 updates like one of their just released updates dated 11/27/2023 the 2023-11 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5032190) update, which is dished out to users that their systems don’t need this update, as it refuses to install.

    So that is the problems that you will have with especially Microsoft bios and firmware updates which will BRICK YOUR LAPTOP SO BE VERY CAREFUL AND ONLY TRUST ACER BIOS AND FIRMWARE UPDATES!

    Thank you both for your comments.

  • Hi @Snoop832 do not update BIOS unless instructed to do so by Acer and it is very necessary, especially for security reasons.
    Stay up to date only with Windows Update.

    All the best.

    @Snoop832

    You can run DXDiag to check the current BIOS version in Windows.

    Please remember to include @AnhEZ28 when you want to reply back to my comment so that I can check your response.
    Thank you and have a nice day!

    When will the BIOS update for Intel 13th and 14th gen CPUs with microcode 0x125 be released for the Acer Predator PHN16-71 laptop to address the BIOS issue?

    HI @Jedi9000us the latest updates are recent and I cannot confirm if new updates will be released soon, I do not know if Acer is working on it.

    All the best.
