My Dad turned on the laptop as always and left it on. After 10 minutes it probably went into sleep mode. An hour later I came and my dad asked me to wake the Laptop. After pressing the Power Key, nothing happened. Pressing ANY other key besides the Power key turns the Laptop on for about 5 seconds until it dies. Altough the power button is able to force shut down the laptop by pressing it 5 seconds long, if the laptop makes it past 5 seconds.
The weird thing is: When bypassing the powerbutton by shortening the connectors pins, disconnecting the keyboard and connecting a different keyboard, the Laptop works just fine. When reconnecting the keyboard to the Laptop while it is running windows/booting, you can even use the Laptop as intended. Its like the problem dissapeared. The Power buttons functionality isnt broken or anything. Putting the laptop in sleep from there is also no issue, but: When the old keyboard is connected, the power LED very quickly flashes red and the laptop completetly dies.
We have dissasembled the Laptop and tried many different methods:
>Remove Memory and SSD (upgraded, worked fine for months)
>Remove Battery
>Use SWG2 Battery switch
>Disconnect and clean keyboards ribbon cable
>Set Bios settings to default
>Tested contacts for shorts with multimeter
(I wont update BIOS, it could brick the laptop completely)
Its like the laptop is trapped in a sleep mode state when its shutdown.
I would appreciate any support. If you have any questions, lmk. If I find a solution, I will post it here!
