BSoD: video_dxgkrnl_fatal_error nvidia on Aspire A515-58GM What is the reason for that BSoD?

Hello,

Since I bought the laptop in October 2023, I have had issues updating the Nvidia GPU software. No other issues happened at all. Laptop seems to work well.
However, if I try to update the GPU drive using NVIDIA GeForce Experience, I constantly get BSoD: video_dxgkrnl_fatal_error. The only thing that works so far is a complete deletion of the Display Adapter in the Device Manager menu and a complete CLEAR installation of new software.

In a local service centre (I paid them a visit on November 2, 2023), the employee said there was no solution to the problem. When I asked if I could perform the clean reinstallation of Windows 11 and all the necessary drivers (including the GPU RTX 2050 from the NVIDIA page), she said that would eliminate the warranty.

What is the reason for that BSoD? What am I doing wrong? What should I do?

Thank you!

Try to get the driver from the Nvidia website and manually update it.

Thank you. As I mentioned before - I perform clean drivers installation from the NVIDIA page. Still BSoD happens:(

Try to update the BIOS, or reset Windows using the Reset this PC function, this will factory reset Windows including reinstalling the apps that came with this PC (like unboxing the laptop). This will not void the warranty.

    Hey @AlexVN,
Did you find any permanent solution to this, I'm having the same issue with my new Acer Aspire 7 A715-76G RTX 3050, bought in Oct 2023.

    Hi, @aksh_jswl, @AnhEZ28

Unfortunately, I still deal with that situation. All I do is: 1) download new software from the NVIDIA page exactly for my laptop, 2) remove the display adapter in Device Manager completely, reboot, 3) perform a full clean installation of new drivers, and reboot. However, do not log in to the NVIDIA GeForce Experience app, as it will immediately crash my system.

This new NVidia graphics driver installation also happens to me through GeForce Experience software, its been happening with my Nitro 5 AN515-56 with the RTX3050 and the NVidia new drivers for about 3 new driver updates.

What I do is to do the Custom Install > Clean Install with the new NVidia driver then you will still get a BSOD video_dxgkrnl_fatal_error that happens after the reboot, but the new NVidia driver version will be installed, that is what happens in my laptop, same happens with the Intel Arc graphic drivers which is strange? So now I've stopped downloading new NVidia and Intel graphics drivers and will see what develops from NVidia and Intel with these BSODs and errors, as its either the drivers of there is something to do with the laptop?

I would recommend that you don't install any more new NVidia or Intel graphics drivers, as your Aspire A515-58GM with the older RTX 2050 gpu doesn't need new drivers, stay with the last fully working NVidia driver for the RTX2050 as these new NVidia drivers are mainly applicable to the RTX 30 and 40 series and imo that is why these BSODs appear, but in my case it could be my Nitro laptop, so I will do some more research and find out and pass it on to the comminute. Good luck and hope this has helped you out.
