AN515-58 keyboard backlight not working

As from the subject my keyboard backlight isn't working, I have opened the laptop to add a SATA SSD and a few days later when I got my old NVMe so I could transfer files but after I added the NVMe the keyboard backlight stopped working, is there a way I can solve the problem to get it working again and will the keyboard backlight not working cause other issues down the line?

I don't know what I did but I opened up the laptop again just to make sure everything is plugged in, nothing seemed loose but I pushed everything in anyway to make sure and now it works

Hi @SideLegs did you install Windows 11 from scratch on the new drive?
What exactly did you transfer from the NVme to the SSD, Windows?

Hello @Alejandro_AC I didn't transfer windows, it was just some game saves and a few personal files photos videos and such

So you installed Windows 11 from scratch on the new disk?
If so, did you install it from a USB with the Windows ISO provided by Microsoft or did you have an Acer recovery media?
The Microsoft ISO can cause problems with Sense, try downloading the application anyway and installing it over the current one:

@Alejandro_AC I didn't do anything with windows I just put the NVMe into the laptop turned it on and the keyboard backlights weren't working then I just transferred the files I wanted to transfer and I took it out, I didn't touch any windows installation or move windows to the NVMe I put into the laptop

Sorry then, but I don't understand.
I understand that you had an NVme drive with Windows, you disconnected this drive.
Now, without the NVme drive, you installed an SSD, does this drive have Windows?
If it doesn't have it, when you reconnect the NVme, the computer boots with Windows from the NVme but lost the keyboard backlight, is all this correct?

    Greetings.

@Alejandro_AC the laptop I had already had an NVMe which has windows on it, I installed a SATA SSD for games and such then I got an old NVMe from a laptop I had in storage so I could transfer files to this new laptop, after I put the old NVMe in the 2nd slot I lost the keyboard backlight I transferred the files anyway and took out the NVMe from the old laptop, I did nothing with the NVMe which has windows on it

    Thanks, understood, sorry.
Download Nitro Sense again and without uninstalling the current one, check if you can install it over it to correct possible errors.
The connection of the old NVme should not have caused problems, unless that old disk had a Windows operating system installed.
Do the test I mentioned and check the results.

    Greetings.

I got Sense working but the backlight problem still confuses me, do you know if not having the backlight will cause problems down the line? @Alejandro_AC

No, this is not going to cause any problems in the future, but I am also confused with this issue.
Can you post a screenshot of the backlight options on the Nitro Sense keyboard?

    Regards.

I think this is what you want to see if not let me know

Thanks, that's it. Actually Nitro Sense is working but it doesn't work on the physical keyboard. I assume you've already tried deactivating the zones, restarting the computer and reactivating them after the restart. If you haven't done so, try it and let me know.
    Thanks.

@Alejandro_AC I did that and still nothing, if it'll cause no problems down the line that's fine that is all I really cared about

  • Alejandro_AC
    Alejandro_AC ACE Posts: 13,880 Trailblazer

It won't cause any problems, it just won't have backlighting, so don't be surprised if it starts working again in a future Windows update.
I'm sorry I can't offer you better help.

    @SideLegs

Does the keyboard backlight still show the color?

Please remember to include @AnhEZ28 when you want to reply back to my comment so that I can check your response.
Thank you and have a nice day!
