CPU Fan issue Acer Predator Helios 300 PH315-51-Running on Start & turns off

Hi all,

I discovered something strange with my Laptop.

I first noticed after reapplying new Heatpaste and cleaning the fans, that the CPU fan is not running properly anymore (in Predator sense). After investigating it, i noticed that the CPU fan is running when i start up my Laptop, and stops after like 1-2 seconds. It won't run on it's own at all. Didn't have this kind of issue prior to the cleaning.

When i tried to set the fans at max speed, i noticed that the fan is ''trying'' to rotate, but stops again after few seconds. Whilst running the fans on Max Speed for some time, the CPU fan tries to get himself running over and over again (Predator Sense doesn't show any movement). The GPU Fan however is fnctioning as it should.

Is there any possible solution i could try by my own, or do i need to replace the CPU Fan completely?

Thanks for helping me out!

This problem you are having can be caused because you haven’t put enough paste and you used the old thermal pads with the thermal module and the cpu temp sensor is affected as there must be a sections of the thermal module that is not making full contact with the cpu/gpu and the VRAM circuitries to thermally shield it properly and its affecting the laptop cpu sensor and cpu/gpu temps are high and turning the laptop off.

I suggest that you do a full repaste and VRAM pad change and first clean the old paste and pad material off the mainboard section and then the thermal module and use liquid metal for the cpu and normal paste for the gpu and use a high end thermal pad for the VRAM (see the Thermal Grizzly range, as I’ve just done all this on a Nitro AN515-56 laptop and never had any fan problems) as that is the most affective and best way of repasting cpu/gpu paste and VRAM pads. If this does not fix your fan issue then it’s the PH315-51 fan that is faulty. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Hi, Thanks a lot, Will give it a try for sure. Could you perhaps recommend a specific Heat paste for CPU & GPU? As i handed over my laptop to a private guy for the cleanup & since I'm quite new to it, i don't really wanna mess around with it too much and get it done as quick as possible.

However, i don't really have a heating issue, so while gaming it's basically at around 80degrees. Though i found another issue (which i will open anoher post to it) where my temperature increases, as long as my Task Manager is closed. If i open it, the Temperature goes down again (think it's due to a malware or something)

    TIA
