I got this PC about 2 weeks ago, the previous owners moved across sea's and left it behind to trash but I kept it.. Whenever I try to turn it on the ACER screen comes up, says "Preparing Automatic Download" at the bottom, then the screen goes fuzzy black & white… it goes back and forth but will not go any further, I need help please!

This is a hard drive operating system boot issue. It would help if you would tell us the exact Aspire laptop model number which should be something like A315-xx or A515-xx that is written on a sticker on the back of the laptop. As then we can tell you what boot drive you have and what is the best fix for this laptop.

Then the fix for experiencing boot problems with Windows, you can access the Troubleshoot menu to diagnose and fix issues. Here are a few methods to trigger the Troubleshoot menu during boot:

    Interrupt Boot Sequence (Windows 10):

    • Start your computer.
    • As soon as the Windows logo appears, press the power button to interrupt the boot sequence.
    • Repeat steps 1 and 2 two more times.
    • After the third interruption, Windows 10 will open into the recovery environment (also known as the Windows Recovery Environment or WinRE).
    • From there, you can access the Startup Repair tool to fix boot issues1.

Use Bootable Media (USB Installation Media):

Force Shut Down (As a Last Resort):

Remember to choose the appropriate method based on your situation, and the Troubleshoot menu will help you resolve boot-related issues. 🚀 good luck and hope this helps you out.

@StevenGen so i put the install media on a flash drive, put it in my ACER but now it boots up then screen just goes black.. so no fuzzy screen.. it almost feels like something with usb ports as well possibly? cause i had nothing in those at first, but just plugged in my keyboard, wireless mouse and usb for the media install….

Try to disassemble the PC and take out one RAM stick if it has two.

Please remember to include @AnhEZ28 when you want to reply back to my comment so that I can check your response.
Thank you and have a nice day!

There doesn't seem to be an Acer model CR-1655. Are you sure that's correct? Your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like xxxxx-xxx-xxxx.
