When attempting to connect my Acer Halo Smart Speaker to the Google Home app, an error message appears stating, "Could not communicate with your Acer Halo Smart Speaker." Despite multiple attempts, the connection process fails consistently.

I have attempted to factory reset the Acer Halo Smart Speaker, but the issue persists.

The Wi-Fi network is stable, and my other smart devices can connect to it without any problems

Device link:

I can communicate to the speaker with this command: "curl http://192.168.255.249:8008/setup/eureka_info"

It shows my fw version is: "build_version":"272222","cast_build_revision":"1.52.272222" https://www.acer.com/us-en/accessories/smart-devices/halo-smart-speaker

Looking at the user manual it seems you first have to connect to the Halo using it's WiFi, then set it up to connect to your main WiFi, is that correct? If the Halo isn't connected to your regular WiFi then I would expect that behavior. Is you regular WiFi on 192.168.255.x?

    Thanks for your response,

    I have tried both solutions

    • My phone connected directly to the Speaker hotspot: 192.168.255.xxx
    • My phone connected to the Internet wifi: 192.168.0.xxx

but the same error "Could not communicate..."

I searched for this error and seems some Marshall speakers meet the same problem because of an error firmware: https://support.google.com/assistant/thread/210763960?hl=en&msgid=211037532

And the Speaker still responds "OK Google" command, it says "Device has not been set up yet"

I don't see any firmware updates on Acer's support page (BTW, the model number is HSP5100G, so use that when searching). Maybe your best bet from here is to contact Acer support and see what they say.
