S7-392 Image Retention

Member Posts: 2 New User

I've been noticing the last few days that whenever I'm in a browser for about 15-20min, and then go back to the start screen I can still see the residuals (addres bar, part of the image) in the foreground.

It happens with every single program, whether it's plugged in or not.

Is this a hardware issue? Do I have to return this machine?

There isn't really a way of reducing the contrast. You have the brightness which controls the backlight, but nothing I am aware of reduces the contrast. It annoyed me at the start, but not anymore. I also chose a wallpaper/background that wasn't so plain, so I rarely notice it.

This was there in the S7-391 as well and is normal for these models. It is because they are using "Overdrive" with the panels to increase contrast. The downside of this, is that high contrast objects can leave temporary image retention. It is only temporary though and will not result in any permanent burn-in.

    Much appreciated jonstatt,

Would lowering the contrast reduce this issue, is it even worth doing?

    Thanks again for the reply.
