All of a sudden my laptop AN515-58-58TZ takes a very long time to boot up. When I turned my pc on it was in a black screen for 10-15 mins and afterwards also it took a long time in the acer logo( just stuck there) and somehow booted into windows. I have a seconday SATA ssd installed ( windows doesnt recognize it anymore). When I go on device manager and try to initialize it, it gives me some error. Ive reinstalled windows many times ( many versions of windows from 8.1 -11 ) - absolutely no use. I live booted linux mint and mint can use the ssd perfectly fine. What is causing this issue. Why is my computer so slow. Once windows is booted up system is fast.

Specs : i5 12500h

16gb ram

Micron 3400 nvme ssd (built in)

Crucial bx500 240gb ssd (sata)

Rtx 3050 95W.

    Hi,

Have you checked Startup programs in Task Manager? How many Apps are enabled at start? Also check for any virus with windows Defender.

Normally caused by large Startup programs (see reply above) and non-compatible/bad drivers, you don't have a mechanical HDD so Fast Startup will have no effect on your slow booting, try to hibernate instead of shutdown (you have to enable hibernate in Power Plan "What Closing the lid does". Check if you have yellow problem icons behind devices in Device Manager, also check the hidden devices and expand the devices. Delete any greyed out or problem devices in Safe Mode. Did you check your system files lately?

Go online and paste the following in the Command Prompt opened as administrator:

    Dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

After successful completion paste this command in the Command Prompt (opened as administrator)

    SFC /scannow

You may get errors that cannot be fixed, run again SFC till you see "no violations'

Finally delete your temp files and purge old Windows update records: Type Storage Sense in the search box and click on the Temp icon, may take long if you have a lot of Windows update files like "OldWindows", it may find many GBs of redundant data. Then optimize (trim) your SSDs.

    @zen098

    Press windows key  + r
    on the run window
    type msconfig
Go to services or click on services
check the box - hide all microsoft items on the bottom lower left corner
    click on disable all
    click on startup tab
    open task manager
    Disable all the items
    click on apply - ok
    Restart the computer.
Now the computer will boot quickly.    It will show you the icons quickly..   This process is called clean boot.

Note: You can always enable the services and startup items later or set it to normal startup from selective startup later on the General tab

Try windows + r - on the run window - type appwiz.cpl  - click ok
it will show you the list of programs
remove all the unwanted third party programs.
    Please don’t remove any drivers.
If you are not sure , please don’t remove it.
