Hello i have a predator helios 300 PH315-53-72XD and i am having a screen flickering problem with it, i have tried to do some fixes already like changing the refresh rate to the lowest reset all my default nvidea settings and then when i thought it was a display cable problem cause the flickering is not happening in an external monitor, but then today when i tried using my laptop without the charger it is fine without any flickers but when i connect the charger after sometime it is back. The flickers are not regular and i have no exact diagnostic for it, could someone help

Hi @Elanchezhiyan Just to confirm, is the power supply the original?
If you lower the power mode to economizer or balanced, if you don't have this mode, will the flashing disappear?
If possible, measure the output voltage of the power supply connector, which should be 19.5 volts.

    All the best.

The charger is the original one(ADP-230JB D) and my battery mode was on best power efficiency and i have changed it to balanced now.

Once the power mode has been changed and the computer restarted, does the problem continue?

the power mode was changed and then i used it for some time in battery and then connected the charger and it started flickering again around 6 mins later. the flickering continues even after i remove the charger, i feel like i need to use the laptop in battery and after it is nearly drained turn it off and then charge it when not in use(is what i feel like)

I don't know who could be causing the problem, whether the power source or the graphics card itself and its controller, we ruled out the flex because it does not occur either with a battery or on an external monitor.
Is the graphics driver the one provided by Acer or have you installed the one from the manufacturer Intel/NVidia?

That could be the problem, please uninstall those drivers and install only the ones provided by Acer and check the results.

We need to determine whether it is a hardware or software issue. Turn off the computer. Tap f2 ( for laptop ) or del ( for desktop ) while turning on the computer. It will go to bios. Please stay on the bios screen for 30 mins. If the display is looking good on bios then it is a software issue. If the display is not looking good on the bios screen then it is a hardware issue.

If it is a software issue try the following the steps..

    Try windows x
    go to device manager
    expand display adapter
right click on display driver - uninstall
    Restart the computer

    It should work fine.

If it is still not working
Uninstall the display adapter from device manager
    Don’t restart the computer.
    Go to support.acer.com
    choose your country
type snid or chose your model
    go to drivers
    Install the display driver

    It should work fine.

The flicker is happening in the bios page also, but now if this refers to a hardware problem which might it be.

Here you have the download page for the device, but the drivers are for Windows 10, although the device is compatible with Windows 11, they are not available at the moment, what version of Windows do you have installed?
If you have Windows 10, on the download page you have the graphics card drivers.

Mine is windows 11 and my laptop comes under the compatable list, so which driver should I install, and then I should uninstall which one and do what could you please explain

If you have Windows 11, since Acer does not currently have the drivers for the computer and Windows 11, what you have to do is uninstall the drivers from the control panel - programs and features, restart the computer and Windows will install the generics, later , go to Windows Update to offer you updates.
If it does not offer you updates at this time, try in a few days, this happens because the update information may take time to reach the servers.

As I already told you, no, I don't know what the root of the problem is, it could be the source or the graphics, so we would have to try changing the driver and see what happens to rule out this being the reason.

There is no driver mentioned as display driver

  • Alejandro_AC
    Alejandro_AC ACE Posts: 13,680 Trailblazer

The display driver does not exist on that page, it is the graphics card driver that must be changed to test, but as I have told you, they are for Windows 10, they will not work in Windows 11, so you do not have to download anything, simply uninstall the driver from the control panel, restart your computer, and go to Windows Update.
    Check the result.
