You can replace the 2.5" HDD with a 2.5" Sata-3 SSD like the Samsung 870 EVO V-NAND 2Tb. Your PC also has a PCIe M.2 slot: 3.0 x4 M.2 NVme SSD compatible for a Gen3 SSD like the Samsung 970 Evo Plus up to 1TB, that will be much faster than the MS30 Sata drive you are planning.

The below tables are the specs of the Aspire TC-780 desktop M.2 SSD drives fitted by Acer to this desktop and the highest spec M.2 SSD drive is a PCIe3x4 NVMe type drive the Lite-On CV18B512, best is for you to look at the Tom's Hardware SSD Benchmarks Hierarchy 2024 tests that they did for allot of the top M.2 SSD drives of capacities of 1TB, 2TB and 4TB as this is a far better and more reliable guide than relying on manufacturers or suggested M.2 SSD drives that anyone suggests to you. Good luck.

Steven is correct here, the M.2 slot does not support an NVMe drive.

Thank you very much for answers.

No use using NVME when the MB.2 does not support it. Plus the M.2 Sata is still a big speed upgrade over the current Hard drive. My main concern is will the M.2 card I bought ( TEAMGROUP MS30 1TB with SLC Cache 3D NAND TLC M.2 2280 SATA III 6Gb/s Internal Solid State Drive SSD (Read/Write Speed up to 530/480 MB/s) Compatible with Laptop & PC Desktop TM8PS7001T0C101) work with my mother board. Also, looking at the OEM for SSD, 512GB is just not enough. I hope I can use the 1TB Sata that I bought.

You should have no issues with a 1TB drive. Remember to clone the old drive to the new one first, then swap them out, so you get the same environment as you have now.

I was just coming here to ask about steps to clone. Also what's the best free/easy clone software? Any good youtube links that keep it simple?

To clone an M.2 SATA B&M end key drive and use a cloning software you need to first buy a, see here > IDsonix USB3.2 10Gbps To M.2 NVMe SATA SSD External Enclosure Storage Case USB-C & USB 3.0 that you can attach your TEAMGROUP MS30 B&M end key SATA M.2 drive into the adapter with a USB cable and clone the existing HDD with the OS onto a that TEAMGROUP MS30 1TB M.2 SSD drive that you have, then just plug the cloned M.2 drive into the TC-780 M.2 SSD slot. Use the Acronis 8 cloning software as that is a very good nonspecific cloning software. Good luck.

Use this adapter as its also a good external M.2 enclosure for a backup drive.

Thanks!! I ordered the external storage storage case be here in 2 or so days.

I went to the Acronis 8 cloning software, but the download link is missing. Which one do I download?

I used Macrium Reflect the last time I did a clone. The free version is more than capable.

Thanks for all the help. Got the M.2 SATA 3 in and cloned. I ended up using diskgenius to clone eazy peazy. Everything worked out perfectly.
