Hey, Im thinking of buying an Acer Predator Orion 3000 P03-630, but I want to upgrade the PSU, but idk what I could upgrade it to.

I would like to upgrade it from 500W to 700/750W. Any PSU suggestions for me to upgrade it to? Any help is appreciated :)

Why? Are you planning on upgrading the GPU as well? The PSU is good enough for the components it has now.

Be warned that Acer uses new type of PSUs (ATX12VO). The last time I checked few months ago, there were almost no upgrade options available.

Well no, I'm not gonna upgrade the GPU, 3070 is more than enough, but i dont wanna go through the hastle of my PSU just giving up due to a power spike, I just want to be on the safe side.

Maybe I'm worrying too much? As I'm already gonna get a CPU Cooler upgrade

    Hi IveGoneBananas23,

You can replace it with a 3070 or the new AMD 6800 and both would fit. The 3070 for sure would fit since I have it on my orion 3000, but the amd one I am not sure, but its better than the 3070 it seems and on the smaller side too. ... This is good news though and I will look at the 6800 as an option.

About that adapter cable. I remember reading months ago that it works only with Corsair PSUs. If OP gets a Corsair PSU to go with it, well, it might work. I wouldn't want to be the first Guinea pig and see if it actually works or not. Maybe the connectors plug in nicely and all but your mobo lets out the magic smoke?

The PSU the box has is what it is, but it is enough. People have reported hearing buzzing sounds coming from the PSU when the PC is turned off. My unit had this same "feature".

If you are really worried about PSU (not to forget the bad airflow and cooling this box has), I'd just buy components and build a new PC.

Technically speaking - as today - August 2021 - its not possible to upgrade  ATX12VO PSU in any existing pre-builds including Acer Predator Orion  range, since there is practically non ATX12VO PSU on the market to buy with 500+ W specs or so...

Only option for you ATM is to buy regular ATX PSU ( check the measurements first, if it will fit ) and cable converter for connectors from Corsair website.

Alright, so what you're saying is that I can't upgrade the PSU... If I wanted to play games like Forza Horizon 4, Valorant and warzone at max settings would the PSU be fine? Cuz nvidia reccomend atleast a 650W psu to be paired with the 3070...should i stop worrying?

Its my first time buying a pc btw

You are right, you can NOT upgrade that new type PSU at this moment ( August 2021 ) since there is non on the market in stock to buy...

Upgrading CPU cooler is a MUST for all Predator Orion 3000 series, as the present one is a JOKE...

Speaking of CPU Cooler upgrades... Would this fit? https://www.komplett.no/product/831518/datautstyr/pc-komponenter/vifterkjoelingvannkjoeling/cpu-luftkjoeling/noctua-nh-u9s-cpu-kjoeler?gclid=CjwKCAjw95yJBhAgEiwAmRrutGw2lcsmetmJ0S09dgBk3lEBsLSOUFgUlaqpSQh_l9Rc3tJT0PRHChoCZokQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

You should be able to translate the website, im from norway

    1) Do not worry about the PSU.
    2) Do a forum search "PO3-630" and you'll see what has been done before about the cooling.

I have the P03-600UR18. A few months ago, the fan started making noise... sometimes. Recently, it makes noise all the time. It also vacillates making me wonder if the PSU is failing.

I'm retired so can't afford to replace the PC. I built my previous PC so not a noob (although I built it in '08!). I could replace the fan but worry it might be more than a fan issue!?? I dont know how to test it. Do you know if it's possible to replace the PSU now...2 1/2 years later? I've tried several times to contact Acer but they don't appear to be interested in responding.

I know this is an old thread but I'm desperate, LOL.

Your system is completely different than a PO3-630… Rather than camping out on a thread that's several years old for a different model than you have, please use the Ask a Question button to start a new thread with your question. Include your full model number (PO3-600-UR18), what you are seeing and what you have tried so far. There are more than one fan in your system, so it would help if you could pin down just where the noise is coming from.
