Touchpad problem in Windows 10 on Aspire AV15-51.

I wiped the NVMe on my Aspire A15-51 and installed Windows 10 in place of Win 11. Windows 10 recognizes the keyboard, but not the touchpad. I didn’t see a touchpad-specific driver on the Acer website under my model. Any suggestions on how to resolve?

There are no Touchpad drivers, Windows11 will install MS Precision driver, there is no A15-51 model laptop, there are AL15-51M and A515-51 models. Boot to BIOS with F2 and check Touchpad is set to 12C HID, save changes and exit BIOS. Also check Device Manager if you have 12C HID in Human Interface Devices uninstall that driver and just reboot. Windows10 may have trouble detecting W11 components.

    Thanks for the ideas.

My apologies, the correct model is Aspire AV15-51.

I've checked through the BIOS multiple times, and do not find an entry for Touchpad anywhere.

In Windows' Device Manager, there is an I2C HID Device entry under Human Interface Devices. I was concerned about uninstalling its driver in case I might need to reenable it later, so for now I instead disabled the driver and rebooted. No change in behavior — touchpad still not recognized. Plugging in a USB mouse works fine, but not a long-term solution.

Update: The touchpad works now. I went ahead and uninstalled the I2C HID device in Device Manager, rebooted, then initiated a Windows Update, which appeared to install a lot of items. That appears to have done the trick. Thanks again for the help.

Take actions related to touchpad driver
Windows Key+X (Or right click on Start) > Click Device Manager > View tab > Show hidden devices > Expand Human Interface devices > Right click on the touchpad listed there >

    A. Roll back the driver (You will have to repeat the steps for all entries listed including Synaptics)
Click Properties > Under Drive tab, if Rollback Driver is enabled click it

    B. Update driver from manufacturer's website (You will have to repeat the steps for all entries listed including Synaptics)
Go to the website of the computer's manufacturer > See if some driver is released for your model and OS > If yes, download that > In previous option, you click Update Driver Software, in place of this, click Uninstall > Install the downloaded driver > Restart your computer.

Use external USB Mouse and install proper Touch Pad Driver from Acer Support/Drivers/Manual Download site.
