Acer Nitro V shuts down instead of sleeping

Hello,

When I close my lid of even select sleep mode from the options, the laptop shuts off instead and turns off all the apps and documents I had opened before going to sleep.

I have tried all the other methods I've come across changing power options etc but none of them work and seem to solve my issue of wanting the laptop to just go to sleep in sleep mode and not shut down.

MS recommends disabling Hibernate and Fast Startup in "Change what closing the lid does". Then in "Edit Power Plan" reset the power plan to factory defaults, Boot to BIOS with F2 and reset BIOS with F9 in Bios, save changes on exit BIOS. If you don't have a Sleep button press briefly the Power Button for Sleep mode. You may have a corrupted system file, go online and paste this ithe Command Prompt opened as administrator: Dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth and press Enter. Then paste this: SFC /scannow and press Enter, repeat SFC till you see "…did not find any integrity violations".

    Hello,

Sorry for the delay, but I did all of this, and it still didn't resolve the issue. I already had hibernate disabled. I couldn't find the option to disable fast startup as it wasn't visible in the first place.
I reset the bios with F9, though it was more so restore to default settings.

I did the command prompt inputs. Closed the lid, opened it and the laptop treated it a as shut down and closed all the windows I had opened previously.
Do you have any other options to resolve this?

Also I'd like to mention this is a brand new laptop, and this was an issue from the get go. So I am wary of doing a full facotry reset, as doubtful it will do anything except be annoying to me.

Correct, when hibernate is disabled Fast Startup won't show. I am sure this a Power Plan issue (Modern Standby, the new S3 mode), you did not say if you use Acer Custom Power plan or the Windows default plan Balanced, also uninstall the Acer apps Quick Access, AcerSense and Acer Care Center. You could try to tweak the registry and disable Modern Standby mode, but it is probably safer to just Reset this PC without losing your files and try the registry fix later if Reset did not help. 😉
