I cannot find the CMOS battery anywhere and the BIOS is not retaining configuration and time, and the battery is in good health, but the notebook does not work unplugged.

thanks

You need to take the mainboard out and see if the RTC/BIOS battery is on the other side of the mainboard, as it could be there. Not every RTC/BIOS battery in on the opening cover side of the mainboard. if your SF713-51 hasn't got a RTC/BIOS battery its either powered by the following:

    • Direct Power: Many motherboards now provide direct power to the BIOS chip from the main power supply unit (PSU). Even without a CMOS battery, the BIOS chip remains functional.
    • Super Capacitors: Some motherboards use super capacitors instead of batteries. These capacitors store enough charge to keep the BIOS chip powered briefly during shutdown or when the system is unplugged.

Good luck and hope this helps you out.

The Acer Swift 7 laptop uses a CR2032 coin-cell battery as its RTC (CMOS).

Ok, but I’ve opened the notebook and see the battery pack, the speakers, the SSD, the Wi-Fi module and the copper cooling plate for the ram and processor but no CMOS battery or cables that that could lead to the CMOS battery. Does anyone know the physical location of the battery?

It doesn't look like the SF713-51 has a CMOS battery. Some of the newer CMOS chips have a battery built in that is recharged when the laptop runs. How they expect it to be repaired when the battery fails after 10 years or so I have no idea.
