Download the IRST (Intel® Rapid Storage Technology) Driver and extract it to the Windows installation USB. When the installation asks for the driver, navigate to the extracted folder and choose the .inf driver file.

I tried this with all the irst drivers I could find. None worked.

Not ones from acer site or intel sites.

    Which drivers will work?

What happen if you load the driver from the folder?

Well if the driver showed up I'd highlight it, click next a blue bar moved across bottom of screen I thought it was installing but nothing changer and it says no new devices found.

Let's try this instead. Go to the BIOS, navigate to the main tab, and press CTRL+S together. The VMD controller should appear for you to disable it. Save everything and restart. Retry the Windows installation this time.

You need to use the Acer Aspire A515-56 laptops designated IRST version 18.6.1.1016 driver as that is the only IRST driver that will work. Its impossible that your Aspire A515-56 will not recognize the M.2 SSD boot drive with this driver. I've installed Win-11 on many laptops and the IRST driver always worked as that is what its for.

    Hi, Gerald

I have faced the same issue and tried many different versions of such a driver, which is still not working. Have also tried to switch off VMD in the BIOS, but the same result. May be you have found some solution? Will be appreciated if so.

The Aspire 5 A515-56 laptop should only be installed with Win-11 as Acer specifically made this laptop for Win-11, this laptops IRST driver will work 100% from the Acer support page, if it doesn't then you have some problems with your M.2 drive or the laptop M.2 slot that needs a technician to analyze and fix. Btw, I've got the next Aspire A515-57 model and I did a clean install of Win-11 with its IRST driver and had no problems. Good luck.
