Hi! I need help with my laptop. Model: AN515-55-57DA. I just bought a 500gb Samsung SSD 980 NVMe M.2 and a Kingston 8GB PC4-3200. I tried to install them in the extra slots.

However, after turning it on, my laptop won't boot up and I'm just left with a black screen. I tried removing the RAM first, then the SSD. But my laptop will just function if I removed them both. What should I do?

Existing RAM: 8GB

Existing SSD: WD PC SN530 NVMe 256GB

Exiting HDD: Toshiba 1TB

The 8GB Kingston DDR4-3200Mhz CL22 ram should work with this laptop (this laptop does not work with Kingston FURY type ram, as its overclocked) so if you have overclocked ram you need to change it. The Samsung 980 PRO NVMe M.2 SSD, also works in this laptop even if its a Gen 4x4 M,2 as its backward compatible, but it will work at 50% of its max speed as your AN515-55 has a PCI3x4 max M.2 slot.

Try to swap the ram modules around when you install the new 8GB Kingston DDR4-32000MHz ram. Also are you using the new M.2 Samsung 980 PRO NVMe SSD in the AN515-55 SSD2 M.2 slot as a slave drive, as if you are, this drive should make no difference to the boot and should be showing in Disk Management after the laptop boots, and then you need to initialize it and give it a drive letter before its shown in File Explorer.

You are doing something wrong as the DDR4-3200MHz CL22 should work as should the Gen 4x4 Samsung 980 PRO NVMe M.2 SSD, as they are all plug and play type upgrades for the AN515-55 laptop.

You write that the screen is black. Does the laptop start? It may have nothing to do do with your situation but I recently added SSD to Predator Triton x17 (and it is hell of a job) and had the same problem. I dismantled everything again, checked the connections etc, and as it came out, I should have waited like 10mins or so after switching on the unit. After this time it restarted but now with normal screen. I found out just because it took me so much time to search for another screen I wanted to connect...

If you added a 2nd M.2 SSD into the PTX17-71, you install the new M.2 drive and then reboot the laptop, and the new SSD2 drive will be shown in Disk Management as an uninitialized drive, then you initialize it and give it a drive letter and its ready to go. Its a simple process.

    PTX17-71 laptop 2x M.2 SSDs positions

You should wrap your new M.2 SSD with the Acer wrap below also:
