so, I'm stuck using the generic windows one from 2006 !!@!!

how much do monitor drivers' matter?

And it doesn't really matter… The monitor tells your system what resolutions and frequencies it supports, and that's all the driver does as well. Drivers are really only needed for situations where plug and play isn't supported.

Windows 10/11 enforces driver signatures by default. However, you can disable this to install drivers that are not digitally signed. Here are the steps to disable driver signature enforcement:

Click the Start menu and select Settings.
    Click Update and Security.
    Click on Recovery.
Click Restart now under Advanced Startup.
    Click Troubleshoot.
    Click Advanced options.
    Click Startup Settings.
    Click on Restart.
On the Startup Settings screen press 7 or F7 to disable driver signature enforcement.
Your computer will restart and you will be able to install non-digitally signed drivers. If you restart your computer again the driver signature enforcement will be re-enabled. Please note that this is a temporary solution and the unsigned driver may not function correctly after the system re-enables the driver signature enforcement. It’s always recommended to use digitally signed drivers for system stability and security.

yeah, i told the acer level 2 tech about it and he said he would forward the info to the proper place for it to be updated but who knows how long that will take.

Plug and play monitors usually do not need a separate monitor driver. However, if a monitor driver or . INF file is available, installing it adds support for display resolutions, refresh rates, or color quality. Your computer manufacturer or monitor manufacturer might recommend installing a monitor driver or INF file.
