It shouldn't be, the USB-C port on the left side supports TBT4 and the drive should be compatible with either. Do other devices work in that port?

Pretty sure its the SS itself…

    Yes,

Everything thus far except the Crucial SSD

I have 2 External SSD Drives

    CRUCIAL X8 Portable SSD 2TB

    Sandisk Extreme Portale SSD 2TB

    Compatibility

Desktop PC Windows 11 Pro -

Both external SSD drive work at correct speeds on USB-C 3.2 or USB3.0 Type A ports.

    ACER Swift Go 16 - SFG16-71 -

Only Sandisk Extreme Portable SSD 2TB: works on USB-C 3.2 or USB3.0 Type A ports.

CRUCIAL X8 Portable SSD 2TB: only works on USB3.0 Type A ports,

All USB-C 3.2 Ports error when connected "Device not recognised, hardware incompatibility error". Running tests on id on desktop as we spa, i think its the SSD drive, not shock proof, it did hit the floor once or tice, they made is so slippery to handle, i had to stick rubber on it, slides of everything ffs. Ridiculous.
