Predator Helios G3-571 Battery Capacity shrinking quickly (G3-571)

I replaced the original battery for my Predator Helios G3-571 in June 2023 since it would no longer hold a charge. I got a battery of the exact same make and model. It began with 51,680 mWh capacity and is now down to 33,911. It has basically lost about 4,000 mWh every month for the past 5 months. HWinfo64 shows the wear % at 34%. I recalibrated it so hopefully it won't die on me at the displayed 30-40% like it has been.

Basically just wondering why this might be happening with a new battery? I have not been using the laptop any differently than I had in the past. Could it actually be an old battery and has sat on a shelf for several years so it was bound to die quickly?

Probably a cheap refurbished battery, run the Windows Battery report to check the discharging profiles, HWINFO is just using the BIOS/MS ACPI caches, Windows Battery Report are far more informative.

I have run the Windows Battery Report. How should I post it here?

Also, I don't think the calibration worked as I had the computer starting at 100%, it got to "60%" and died after only 45 minutes.

Also, when the computer charges during use and gets into the 90's, the computer makes the "beep" sound that it normally makes when you plug in the charger. It beeps about every 20-30 seconds then starts and stops charging from 95-100, taking quite some time to actually get to 100. I'm assuming this is another battery issue, but just wondering what the nuts and bolts are of what's actually happening.

Open the report that is filed in "C:\Users\Your Name\battery-report.html" with Edge and right click on the opened report, select "Print to Microsoft PDF", select what folder to save the PDF file in, make sure you print all pages in color and post the PDF as an attachment.

These power beep sounds and long time for the last 5% to top up the charge to 100% are all indications of a bad battery with a refurbished Smart chip. What adapter are you using, is this the original power adapter from 2017, after 7 years you better replace the adapter too, 180-Watt Acer part number ADP-180MB K. ($80).

Yes it's the original adapter. I should probably replace it you are right. Where can I purchase a new one?

    Here is the report.

If I'm to buy a new battery, where is a good place to get it? I had to get my last one off Ebay because I could not find one anywhere else. Seller was reputable and battery listed as "new," but again, it could have been sitting around, unsold, for years. I need to find a compatible battery that has been newly produced.

Hi just wondering if the report helped figure anything out about my battery/computer and where is the best place to look for a brand new battery.

    Thanks much!

The report shows an erratic battery drainage profile indicative of a bad cell, I recommend you replace the battery with one of these models:
Battery PANASONIC AC14B Polymer 4S1P ATL 4 cell 3220mAh Main COMMON (Part number KT.00405.005)
Battery LGC AC14B (5.5mm) Prismatic 4S1P LGC 4 cell 3220mAh Main COMMON (Part number KT.0040G.006)

New battery finally came in mail. Want to make this one last. Any advice on how to set the charge limit to 80? I know that ACER care center got rid of that option so kind of hard to avoid overcharging.

    Thanks!

I charged it with the new battery fully, unplugged it, booted it up, and it died just like before.

    I've attached another battery report.

additionally, at some point in the last week, my computer stopped recognizing my additional hard drive. (When I replaced the battery, the drive was plugged in fully)

It has been installed in the slot for the life of the computer and has never given any indication of problems when running health checks.

Sorry I just realized the battery report gives pretty much no information. The computer dies so quickly on battery power that i guess there's not much to report🤦‍♂️

This report gives a little more

I put a paperclip into the reset on the back of computer and battery will no discharge to about 85% before computer dies. I ran a scan (sorry the file is so large), so if you scroll down to the 2-4 info, there is information about repairing something to do with shutting down. Not sure if it has anything to do with my current situation (second hard drive still doesn't show up), but I'm on batttery power now (I adjusted power plan settings to have hard drive power down after 1 hour on battery and go to sleep after 2 hours to see if any changes) so will report back on next shutdown.
apologies for the multitude of comments!

It got all the way down to 9% or less before it flipped off. I don't believe it had gone to sleep as I could not get it back on until I plugged it in.

This one is strange at the bottom of Recent Usage to show 119% and then it plummeted to 2% from 45% within a few minutes.

Battery seems to be holding up ok. But am experiencing about a once-weekly shutdown when I move the computer suddenly/tilt it sideways quickly. Any thoughts on possible reasons?

    Thanks in advance.
