I have a Acer Chromebook that I want to connect to a Acer moniter. It needs a usb to hdmi cable. I have seen cables online that say will not work with Chromebooks. What is the difference? What do I need? Thanks for your help.

OK, on your model the USB-C port does support DP Alt Mode:

So those cables will work. USB-C to DP or USB-C to HDMI.

We need to know just which Chromebook you have. Some support that, some do not. Your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like xxxxx-xxx-xxxx. From that we can look yours up to see if it's supported.
