Hi acer community. The infamous BSOD has been plagueing my Acer Nitro n50-600 for 3 days now without any signs of improvement. The PC is only 4 years old, it has truly saddened me.

I read about possible fixes and tried so many things, many of which the computer does not allow as the BSOD appears sometimes very quickly. Yes its incredibly frustrating. Im already thinking about just throwing it in the garbage and buying a new pc, but im writing on this community for the first time to see if others have some suggestions! :) (Other than the things ive already tried ofcourse).

Some more info about the BSOD: the source codes are:

  • system service exception
  • registry error
  • memory management

the system service exception source code seems to appear most often.

Weird thing is also, when it restarts it always losses anything i removed or installed previously. Any app, program, driver or file that was modified by me (in attempt to fix it) seem to be reverted upon restarting. upon restart the pc and all of its features/settings goes back to its previous state. Anything that you remove, will appear again when it crashes from restart or from manual restart.

Furthermore, the WinRe environment seems to be enabled, but it simply will not enter the WinRe. Not from any method. Not from advanced startup, f9 or f12 hold, not from power off 3-5x when manufacturer is displayed, and not from shift-power combination. Also tried to safe boot with settings, minimal> hide microsoft programs and then disable all startapps.

Other information of what ive tried:

cmd scans: often cannot finish without BSOD

  • driver updates or rollback on gpu drivers. installing a new nvidia driver from website.
  • sfc /scannow: will come up with corrupt files and them being repaired. but still no fix
  • DISM scans, checkhealth, scanhealth, restore health. BSOD will appear before scans can be finished.
  • disc checker via command chkdsk C: /f or /r: cannot lock current drive is a message i get. If i want this to be checked upon restart (by pressing Y), then it simply does not do it upon restarting.
  • Disc clean up for both C and D drives.
  • memory diagnostic tool. the pc restarts without checking memory. also does nothing.
  • virus: quick scan finishes, does not find threats. Full scan cannot finish before BSOD.
  • malwarebytes + windows malicious tool : no threats detected.
  • CCleaner: registry cleaner until no issues are found
  • Windows update: comes with error and it cannot download. (download error 0x800b0003). tried refreshing win.updater with multiple cmd functions that i found online). Also tried the troubleshooter here.
  • Reset this pc: either wont finish setting up, or during setup goes immediately to 100% and restarts without any changes.
  • cleaning temp filders and folders.
  • Tried fortect app, but this will not open at all after installation.
  • uninstall recent apps/programs. i did not install anything recently, or on the day the BSOD started. but i tried to make sure. upon restarting however, those apps return somehow.
  • DDU, display driver unistaller, used the clean and restart option.
  • Remove pheripherals - change keyboard/mouse, change monitor.
  • Change power source: simply using electricity socket in diff. room.
  • Restore points, cannot complete reverting to 1-day prior to BSOD point.
  • Uninstall previous windows updates.
  • component wise, took apart the pc and all its hardware. checked if things were correctly plugged in.
  • un-dusted the insides and sockets.
  • reseated the RAM multiple times.
  • reseated GPU and CPU.

None of the above has resolved the blue screen of death. I've been trying for 3 days now.

If yall have any suggestions i welcome them! I am really lost about this.

Im thinking either hardware that has broken or a undetectable virus/malware.

Thank you for your help in the future:) And if you need more info let me know

My specs are: acer nitro n50-600 windows 11 home 23H2

9th gen intel i5 9400f // 1660ti // 16 gb mem // windows 11 // 1TB HD, 256gb SSD.

If Windows Recovery Environment won't start either with a Windows Recovery disk or with the Recovery volume on the boot drive that means your bootloader is damaged/deleted and the Recovery USB drive is incompatible with the Windows version you are running or not made properly. Other possibilities are RAM or drive HW issues. I recommend you try to make a new Windows Recovery USB flash drive on another PC with the same Windows version as on your Nitro desktop: Insert a 20+GB USB stick in the other PC, boot to Windows and type "Recovery disk", it will take 1 hour on a slow PC to make one. Boot with this USB stick inserted in the Nitro desktop USB port using F2 and move the USB drive up to the top of the Boot Devices list, save settings and exit BIOS. Now reboot with F2 and you should get the WindowsRE menu. If not, you have a HW issue.

    Thank you for the response!

I found the culprit: corrupted or broken SSD.

The SSD seems to be the reason for the blue screens. Soon as i took it out i was able to clean installs w11 from usb. Previously even bootable usb was not possible on SSD.

Hi. Were you able to still use the Windows 11 key that the PC came with or did you have to buy another one? I have BSOD and cannot boot to Windows on my N50 anymore after upgrading my GPU without first uninstalling the video drivers. Now I'm locked out of Windows and cannot only restore, but also cannot reset the PC from bios. So I'm not sure what to try next other than buy a new M.2 and possibly another copy of Windows 11.
