i can’t get 120hz on my vg240y monitor in ps5
my ps5 is fine but i can’t change the hz of my monitor via the settings is there a way to do it without a pc
The PS5 UI runs at 60hz and you cant change it manually. Any game that supports 120hz should switch to 120hz.
Make sure your video output is set to Automatic 120 Hz Output. To check, go to your PS5's Settings → Screen and Video → Video Output → 120 Hz Output → Automatic

i already did that put the monitor tells me it’s still 60fps. is there a way to change the monitors output?
Go to settings, saved data and game/app settings; game presets; set performance mode on the second option. Then check if 120hz available .
Remember PS5 120fps is a game by game setting. For example, Dirt 5 has a 120fps performance mode. Any other games that don't have such a 120fps mode will only output at 60hz.
It is most likely your hdmi cable isn't the right version to support 120hz
HDMI 2.0 and HDMI 2.1 versions support refresh rates of 120Hz or better123. Here are the details:
Please note that your monitor or TV still has to support these resolutions and refresh rates for them to work. The resolution and refresh rate are limited by your display and not determined based on the HDMI cable1.
