My second RAM slot has weird hooks in Acer Nitro 5 AN515-55

Laptop specs

Acer Nitro 5 AN515-55-50Z3
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10300H CPU @ 2.50GHz 2.50 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)
(Let me know if I missed something)

So I recently purchased a new RAM stick (SP 16GB DDR4 3200) I opened the back panel of my laptop to do it myself and discovered that I couldn't install the RAM into the empty space. It had two metal prongs completely in the way of installing the RAM. Eventually after trying a few things I just took out the RAM that came with the laptop and put my new RAM in the slot that was being used.

I was wondering if anyone else has experience this issue with the Acer Nitro 5 and what I should do to install my second RAM stick. I would like to be able to run my system at 24GB of RAM.

    Hi,

Could you please post the picture of both slots, similar to the one I have attached.

This Laptopmedia vid does not show any hooks blocking the 2nd SODIMM slot, maybe a custom modification made for your model.

Take a caption of the 2nd ram slot "It had two metal prongs completely in the way of installing the RAM" as that is a strange thing. I don't know if you know how to install ram, but the ram slot has a metal clip on each of its side to secure the ram into the laptops slot.

Well I do not know how to close this thread but I'll post what happened as a comment

It was all user error and I feel kind of dumb. I had a friend come over and the problem was I simply didn't push hard enough to install the second RAM stick. It works perfectly now and I am running a 24GB system
