Hi All,

I am having an issue with the laptop and I am not sure on what is happening and on what is causing the issue. TLDR; after I bought the laptop I updated my drivers and windows. However, the laptop began twitching and freezing, apparently I am forced to force-shutdown.

Below is what is happening: (This is just by watching youtube and gaming and even when I am just doing emails, that is what's happening)

image.png image.png

Current system specs and Bios:

I currently have Nvidia RTX 3060

Observations:

  • My laptop works perfectly fine when I am just using the laptop itself without monitor extensions when I did the below:
    • Uninstalled Nvidia driver
    • Disconnected monitor
    • Disabled AMD driver (via device management)

Any thoughts on this? Thank you for the time :)

    Either the monitor HDMI port or cable is bad, try another external monitor and HDMI cable. If the problem repeats you have to uninstall the display adapters in Safe Mode with DDU, make sure you are online and reboot, Windows11 will install the best drivers. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000091878/graphics.html

    What I can see is that your Win-11 is at Version 22H2 - OS build: 22621 and not updated to latest Version 23H2 - OS build: 22631.3085 which is the latest, so update to the 23H2 version and the last OS build, also update the bios to Version 1.12 and if your gpu is the RTX3060 model, then update the firmware, which are all available on the Acer AN515-46 support site. Then do a complete uninstall of the Nvidia drivers with DUU (Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) download version 18.0.7.2) and follow their guide to uninstall the NVidia drivers off your Nitro laptop, then reinstall GeForce Experience so that you can play games through the GeForce Experience settings and also this software always notifies and scans your laptop for the latest NVidia game ready driver for your AN515-45 gpu. Make sure that you have done all this first and see if the external monitor image is fixed, if it is, then its either your laptops side HDMI 2.1 port is faulty or the cable that you are using is faulty or the wrong cable. Good luck.

    Thank you for the recommendation. I have updated the bios to 1.12 although the firmware said that it is already installed. Regarding the Win 11 OS, I don't see this update from the windows update so I am technically stuck with my current version. Although I am not sure if there's a way to download it manually aside from getting it from windows update. So far by following some of your steps my laptop and monitor is stable for now. But, will keep an observation on this. Appreciate the helps peeps :)

    Yes, its a bit confusing if the windows update doesn't update to 23H2, have a read of this article and see the guide there "How to get the Windows 11 2023 Update". I did a complete clen install to 23H2 as the windows update didnt work and every update after the 23H2 was installed had an error, so be aware of that also. As after I did a clean install of Win-11 23H2 all updates installed and the OS is working perfectly. But this is the usual Microsoft new OS version mess that they create, so be aware of this. Good luck.

    So apparently the problem still occurs. It's still twitching and freezing. But I am yet to do the Windows OS update to 23h2 will keep this in mind. But, I am getting the DCP watchdog error when I am getting blue screen.

    image.png image.png

    and also checking the logs I am getting this error. NVLDDMK

    Everything is running okay when I disconnect the laptop to the monitors. So Im not sure if this is still driver compatibility issue or the port itself. I have a Lenovo Monitor with 165 HZ 2560x1440 resolution and using an HDM

    Hi,

    If you have installed (as previously suggested) the latest available versions of the graphics controllers drivers and VBIOS (ver: 94.06.36.00.63) for Geforce RTX 3060. And yet these DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION BSODs still persist.

    There is still a possibility that you could try disabling Multi-Plane Overlay (MPO):

    After updating to NVIDIA Game Ready Driver 461.09 or newer, some desktop apps may flicker or stutter when resizing the window on some PC configurations

    Thank you for this suggestion. My laptop ran for at least 2 hours with no problems when playing. However I am now getting the blue screen error of nvlddmkm.sys - so I am guessing this is due to driver issues. However i'm just getting frustrated as I already reinstalled my Nvidia driver a bunch of times. Perhaps this maybe a port issue?

  • VHave you tried updating the driver from the AMD website? What happens when you disable hardware acceleration in the browser?

    1. Press WinR keys (to open the Run window);
    2. Type: dxdiag, click OK;
    3. In the DirectX Diagnostic Tool window, click in Save All Information;
    4. Choose the Desktop or another easily accessible location to save the file (.TXT), and then click Save.

    Your NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 GPU is reporting error code 43 (CM_PROB_FAILED_POST_START).

    This problem may be caused by solder balls (BGA) cracked.
