So I have this laptop since 2020. And so far there's never been a problem with it, always has worked perfectly for me. But recently I noticed that the computer has higher temperatures than it should have, for example 95º celsius in a game that shouldn't be resource intensive. So I did some research and saw that setting one of the energy options to 99% instead of the default 100% the temperature of my computer reduces by 15~ degrees. Since my computer's language is portuguese, I don't know what the name of the option is. But here is an image of it:

what I don't understand about this setting is what it does to reduce its temperature, does it affect my computer's lifespan or makes the computer run slower but the temperature decreases

It looks like Processor Power Managment. So what you are doing with that setting is limiting the max power by one percent which shouldn't have that big of a effect but 15 degrees is a lot. You can try putting new fresh thermal paste on the processor but this requires disassembly so may require a third party to assist if your not comfortable doing your self. If within the Warranty period please avoid opening yourself and send back to Acer for repair. Opening your system will void your Warranty.
