(A story before the question, sorry lol)
I was curious about my laptop's RAM. I have an ACER NITRO 5 AN515-52, and I've had it for almost 4 years. I use it for games and studies only, with a few downloaded applications for my studies, such as AutoCAD, LTspice, Fluidism, and more. Since I bought it, I haven't paid much attention to the specs. Suddenly, I noticed my laptop becoming slower, especially when starting up Dota 2. During the hero selection stage, my screen doesn't display any heroes, deducting my gold when the match is about to start. When the picked heroes are introduced, my laptop struggles to catch up, leading to delays and hang-ups. Even when exiting the game, there is a noticeable delay. I regularly check and clean the fan, but I don't have thermal paste, and I'm not confident in changing it.

Upon inspecting the RAM, I discovered it is from different brands: Apacer 4GB 2666MHz and Kingston 4GB 2666MHz. This sparked my curiosity, and I came across Kingston's "Fury Beast" SODIMM. I researched it and found features like XMP (Extreme Memory Profile) and other RAM options with different specifications. Initially, I thought I only needed to consider the brand, speed, capacity, number of pins, and DDR type.

(THE QUESTION) Now, my question is, what kind of RAM, brand, and specifications do I need to maximize my laptop's RAM performance, especially for gaming?

Thank you for your patience and your answer.

Your Nitro AN515-52 laptop needs the latest NVidia game ready drivers, and you need to install GeForce Experience software for gaming for whatever gpu you have and also all the windows and Intel updates first, then I would upgrade this laptop to at least 16GB total (2x DDR4-266MHz type ram) or if you do allot of high end gaming, then the max total of 32GB at 2x 16 DDR4-2666MHz ram modules is the best. This laptop operates on a max spec DDR-2666MHz type ram DO NOT put XMP or overclocked ram as it will not work or put DDR4-3200MHz type ram also as it will downclock this ram to 2666Mhz speed..

Use these 8GB or 16GB DDR4-2666MHz modules that Acer has tested on this laptop that work:

If It's been 4years then you probably need to replaced thermal paste with good quality one like Arctic MX-4, MX-6 or Thermal grizzly kryonaut. Thermal probably above 90°C.

About laptop proper Cleaning and repasting you can follow my comment in below post-

    About ram-

Your laptop Support upto 32GB Ram using 2 sticks of 16GB ram DDR4 2666mhz dual channel.

You can buy set of 2x8GB Ram (DDR4, 2666MHZ) for 16GB Dual channel or you can also buy set of 2x16GB Ram (DDR4, 2666MHZ) for 32GB Dual channel.

Kingston's "Fury Beast" SODIMM will not work with your laptop because it support OVERCLOCKING feature like XMP. You need to buy simple DDR4, 2666mhz, 260-Pin SODIMM, 1.2v for maximum performance.

Normal crucial ram, Kingston, etc will work fine.
