Kids 10.1 inch tablet - can't complete setup. cannot updated Google play service
Have tried several times to start up a kid's 10.1 inch tablet. All goes fine until it comes to the final stage of updating Google play services it sits there for a while before stating that it can't update at the moment, try again later. It has down this several times.
Connection to the internet seems ok as have been able to link it to my Google account through the setup process.
This means I cannot access any settings etc. and appears like I'll have to send the tablet back as it is unusable in the current state.

Immediately return it to the vendor as defective for an exchange or refund before the vendor's return merchandise authorization RMA period expires. Usually only a few weeks. Warranty repair service usually takes longer than an RMA resolution.

What tablet is it? Is it a really old one that's being repurposed?

Did you figure this out because I have two brand new tablets and am in the same boat. I don’t want to use my gmail for them.

Again, we can't provide any more detailed suggestions without knowing what tablet you are asking about. A current model will be completely different than one that's ten years old.

Hi
I am having this exact same problem with the same tablet that I bought for my son yesterday. What is the solution to this problem? As I will also have to return it to the store if it cannot be resolved.Laura

How do you know you have the same tablet when the original poster has never told us which tablet they have? There have been a lot of different 10" tablets over the last 10 years or more…

It's an annoying fix but easy enough
You need to login as yourself and update play services and everything else whilst you are at it:
settings-about-android13-google play services
THEN play store - apps - update all
Then remove yourself and add the child
Had these for a while and software is flakey keeps deleting apps and unmounting SD cards
Just had warranty replacement but not convinced problems will be solved as feel software related....
