Hello. My pc's cpu fan has been acting up recently. It only spins in short bursts (5 seconds) like every 5 minutes. I assume this is undesirable as my cpu temps are around 70 - 80 degrees without much load. If someone knows a fix for this, please tell me. Also noticed that if I spin the fan with my fingers, it sometimes starts to spin on its own for a couple of seconds. I was thinking of replacing the fan and seeing if it is just broken. So does anyone know the size of the cpu cooler in Acer Aspire GX-781. Any fan with the right diameter will work, right?.

It needs a drop of light oil or replacement as the bearings are bad.

    Measure it for dimensions.

Thanks for helping! I measured the fan to be 92mm i think. I'm thinking of replacing it but how important is the max rpm? The current broken fan spins up to 4500rpm so do I need to replace with a fan that also can achieve such big rpm? It's quite hard to find 92mm fans that have max 4000rpm.
