Hi, I got a new Acer Aspire 3 (A314-23P) yesterday and when i was setting it up today (uninstalling mcafee, customizing preferences/settings etc) Windows defender found 2 trojans (marked severe) when I did a full system scan:

1#) Trojan:win32/Vigorf.A (location c:\oem\amundsen2\apps\5876707a-22102700\config.zip)

2#) TrojanDownloader:JS/MalScript (Location c:\oem\amundsen2\apps\c:\oem\amundsen2\apps\5876707a-22102700\metadata.json)

As someone who is very careful when browsing internet and downloading files I felt slight panic and can't understand how the laptop got them since I've only downloaded firefox (from microsoft store) with the addon ublock and then steam from the official homepage since it wasn't in the microsoft store.

I've tried googling it and could only find a post from two days ago on reddit with a similar issue where it sounds like it could be a false positive from win defender, but I just wanted to check if anyone here knows what these files are and what measures I should take. (As it is now I don't feel comfortable with using it since I know that trojans can be difficult to get rid of fully.)

Thanks in advance.

(Note: I posted this question in the official Acer subreddit as well)

It comes from the bundled apps that are pre-installed with the laptop so there is no need to worry about them. I found it is usually from the Acer Jumpstart.

Thank you for your reply. I think it's strange that there isn't that much info about this issue online since it seems to have happened to atleast a few Acer users (and relatively recently in most cases) and it's connected to the Acer apps...but it's good if it's just a false alarm from windows defense.
