Can't buy erecovery cd in Canada?

Error message: no boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed.  Called support for this computer that is just over its 1 year warranty period and they told me that I would need to have a new hard drive installed and order the recovery disk. I went looking on the website, found the recovery disk, put it in my shopping cart and found out when putting my address in, that they do not ship to Canada!

So what happens to us Canucks that have had a computer crash?!!

Your help and direction would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, we do not have Recovery media available from the Canada Acer Store online.

We hope to add this functionality in the future.

In the mean time, please review this article regarding Reloading your computer:

    Plan

Do you know anybody in the US?  Have them buy it for you and mail it to you.

Yeah I'm really flustered...not sure if I should take it in and just buy another operating system and have it installed....I loved my Acer up to this point, customer service ...not so much

    Hi tyracer.

I know in Canada the Geek Squad carries them at Best Buy.

I know because they gave me an extra set.

(Maybe if you post your PC type, maybe one of us that has the same make and model can help if we have extra...)

I also require this media.  Has anyone heard of this service? (http://server88-208-222-62.live-servers.net/). They offer direct download of the recovery images for about $25 USD.  I am tempted but I really don't want to go through that route if I don't have to.  (PM's would be welcome)

ACER, it would be great if I could just order these! Arg!

I have no knowledge of that service, nor would I suggest paying for anything that we offer on our Driver site.

If you need recovery media, I would suggest contacting the Acer Store via telephone.

This is disappointing beyond words. This Acer 4739Z-4462 is my 12-year old son's notebook. We enthusisatically purchased it for him thinking it would be his best Christmas gift ever. The hard-drive just crashed the other day and none of the key combinations at start-up work (Alt-F10). I created a system repair disk and the Bios orthe utility does not even see the hard drive.

We keep on getting an "I/O Error" as if the hard-drive is disconnected. But, when you remove the hard drive and diagnose it, the drive and the files are intact. All, I can think is wrong at this point is the system files are damaged and a system restore is needed.

Virus and Malware checks were applied too. Maybe the Motherboard is the issue, but that seems catastrophic.

Can Acer Canada please send me the Recovery Media?

    Signed,

Dad who needs some serious PR points with my Son Smiley Wink

That page is not helpful for people in Canada, it is only helpful if you have can get into your computer and what to refresh your computer from there.  If you are getting the blue screen there is not a way to backup your computer unless you have access to buy the erecovery discs.  Which cannot be bought in Canada only the states.  But if you go to the US website it will not allow you to order.  If you go to the Canada website it is not an option to order.  This is frustrating.  I will call tomorrow and see what I can get done.  My brother lives in the states and I will get him to order if I cannot get anything from the company.  And he will send it to Canada.  Very poor customer service, and also selling a product that they cannot support!

Hi there, I feel your pain.  I went to order the erecovery disc had them in the cart only to find out you cannot order them online if you are in Canada, but that is what they tell you to do!  Maddening!!  But I searched the site and finally found an online chat with ACER.  Trust me I tripped over it, it wasn't easy to find.  Here is the link:

http://acer.custhelp.com/app/chat/chat_launch (not showing as a link but put in your URL)

I entered my information in there and an agent answered my chat.  I explained the problem and the problem canadians have with this and HE SAID he can plance the order for me.  He gave me a link to enter my credit card info, which I did and then went back to the chat and he placed the order for me and then gave me a Case ID basically an order number and now I wait for the discs...so it is possible to get these discs you just need to find this chat to do it..which I suggested they somehow let folks know on their site...and his response we cannot order erecovery online..REALLY??? anywho, I am supposed to have an order place and have in my hads in the next little while.  Thought I would share my story and how I got to order the discs Smiley Happy
