Hi,

I have a Acer Nitro 5. AN 515-64-6812

So when I try turn the laptop won’t turn on at all.

The orange light is on, but the blue light stays on for 5 seconds then it turns off.

I tried another charger but issue persist.

I’m not sure how to diagnose the problem.

thank you

Paul

Check model number again. May be AN515-54 or -44 but not -64.

Orange charging light may suggest battery pack is very low or shorted if blue power light stays on for only a short time.

Try this. With laptop turned off and plugged in, wait for 24 hours to see if orange charging light changes color to blue. If charging light turns blue, then try to turn the laptop on again.

  • I would also try disconnecting the lition battery.

    Hi,

So I went ahead Friday and unplugged the battery from the motherboard and left it unplugged for 24 hours ( till 7pm Saturday). Plugged the battery back, and let the laptop charge for 24 hours (till today at 7:30 pm).

The Orange light turned to blue; pressed the power button, and the same thing the 2nd blue light came on for 5 seconds and then turned off again.

When I said the second Blue light I mean the one that’s closest to the front of the laptop. The first Blue light would be the one closer to the back of the laptop.

Not a clue where to go from here.

    Thank you. Paul

    (1) Check model number again. May be AN515-54 or -44 but not -64.

    (2) Did this happen suddenly for no apparent reason?

    hi,

This is the info I pulled up about the laptop:

Acer Nitro 5 15.6 FHD Gaming Laptop, 9th Gen Intel Quad Core i5-9300H,NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650, 32GB RAM, 512GB SSD+2TB HDD, WiFi 6, MaxxAudio, Backlit Keyboard, Windows 10 +Laser Mousepad

    • ASIN:  B08BY753YK

It happened all of sudden for the laptop to stop responding. I keep it on the desk, never dropped it or spilled liquid on it. I did a win update a week prior so that’s not the issue with it.

Not sure of what I should check.

    Thank you. Paul

    (1) Where did you find this number? ——> AN515-64-6812

    (2) Did the screen go black and laptop turn off by itself when it stopped responding?

    (3) Was it setting on a hard surface desk when it stopped responding?

  • I'm thinking it could be a short in the 19 volt voltage and the input mosfets, which are in the charging circuit, are holding the short. It's just an opinion. Is it under warranty?

I had a similar problem with a Helios 300 PH315-55, brand new, didn't charge out of the box.

I took the bottom tray off to remove the M.2 (to retrieve data) and decide to removed the battery and check connections. All connectors were fine.

Tested power after reinstalling the battery and the orange & blue lights had changed status. Orange on, blue was off.

Rebooted to Win11 and confirmed it was charging. Let it get to 100% and then updated the BIOS from 1.08 to 1.11. Then following the new battery guide I discharged and charged the battery a few times.

Haven't had any charging issues since.

Tested load and power load with 3DMark Port Royal using battery and when charging. No issues.

The Power LED (closest to the front of the laptop) that you named "second Blue light" is only on when the system is running, when the system shuts down while the adapter is plugged in that LED will turn off unless you are in Modern Standby mode (S3 or sleep) then the Power LED will be flashing amber. The shutting down issue could be hardware related as suggested above. Also check the RAM modules if they are properly seated in the slots, take one out and try to boot, bad SODIMMs can cause system shutdowns.
