Good afternoon. I would like to ask. Having increased TDP on GPU through VBIOS change from another acer with 140W TDP on GPU (instead of 95W on my notebook for GPU) there is an emphasis already in the power supply (if to believe the readings of GPU-Z). If I buy a 230W power supply from Aspire line (instead of 180W from my line), will the motherboard power supply system be able to handle this increase?

I could not find the specification for the GH51Z board on the Internet for free. I would appreciate any help or hints:)

GPU - RTX 3060 Laptop GPU

CPU - Ryzen 7 5800H

Increasing the Wattage of the TDP of your GPU with a none approved or provided Acer GPU Firmware update is not suggested as it will damage your laptops GPU and its definitely not a good idea especially to such a high TDP as 140W! Your Nitro AN515-45 is NOT designed to run those TDPs and it will run much hotter and will crash, as increasing the power adaptor from the oem 180W to 230W will do nothing and could even damage the main power circuitries of your laptop, that is why Acer doesn't have a 230W adaptor.

Change the TDP back to whatever the VBIOS firmware flash version that the AN515-45 has from Acer, which is the "Firmware-Update Nvidia discrete VGA VBIOS and improve performance-2021/05/25-v102a" as if you leave the 140W TDP it will damage the GPU which will make your laptop only work with the AMD integrated GPU the much lower quality Radeon Vega 8 in comparison to the superior GeForce RTX-3060 GPU. Its up to you but we can't give you any advice on mods that will damage your laptop. Good luck and hope this helps you out. Remember the saying "if it aint broke don't fix it"🤣

Good afternoon. Thank you for your reply and advice. I am aware of all the risks of GPU overheating. And for some reason I thought you would base your answer on that (I guess it was a mistake not to write about risk awareness in the question).

So I wanted to know how my upgraded heatsink (with stock parameters GPU temperatures dropped by 10-15 C°) would show with a higher TDP of GPU.

Regarding the rapid wear of the crystal. Then I have a question for you. Since this crystal, with the same labeling is in more top solutions of laptops and does not die, how it will die faster on my line?) (Except for increased temperatures (if such will be available)).

Oh, and the answer is a bit off topic. I had a question about the power circuitry on the GPU and whether it can withstand the voltage increase ( I could of course disassemble the laptop and look at the markings on the power circuitry and without DATASHEET, but human laziness gets in the way ) )))

So if you know anything about the power circuitry and its limits, I would be grateful for an answer.:)

And about the saying. It works, but you want more (since the crystal allows it:)).

That’s all very well and good and I understand where you are coming from and that you are aware of what you are doing lev12354 but Acer does not encourage users to overclock or mod their CPUs or GPUs as its a recipe to disaster, leave your laptop stock and update only to firmware that Acer has for your laptop. I know that you want to take that risk of modding, but we on this forum can’t advise/assist you in damaging your laptop and/or encourage other less experienced users to go down that road of bricking their Acer laptop or desktop products. Hence and why this forum restricts any mods and/or guides to either bios hacks or overclocking that could damage your Acer product. Good luck.

It's a shame that it's forbidden to discuss it here (Since the user has to take responsibility himself, why the ban then?:)). Oh well, I won't break the rules. Thanks for the answers. Good luck

Look lev12354 and I'm on your side but you have to appreciate both sides of this curve, as its only logical and prudent for a manufacturer to not encourage modifying/destroy their products either by encouraging any method in doing so and/or having a community that they started to do the same, and then have customers attempting to do the same and bricking their products and coming back at them, it just doesn’t make sense.

That is why Acer community forbids all posts or guides of a bios mod, a password mod and especially gpu TDP and/or cpu mods like you are attempting, you might be experienced and willing to do a mod to your gpu but 98% of users if they are also willing, will brick their products, as they don’t know what they are doing and following instructions can be interpreted differently and mistakes will be made. Btw, I got reprimanded on assisting password resets and bios and gpu mods on the community, so I’m speaking from personal experience.

I understand you perfectly well and have nothing against you. On some forums I was even blocked (or restricted my actions) for helping other people:). And Acer forum is also right, not all people do anything with their device consciously and without any experience or "trial and error". It's just that even the warranty won't save me, I haven't had it for a long time:). So everything will be on my shoulders if something goes wrong, as I planned and calculated. Don't worry and good luck to you.)

Mate my question is a bit off topic but can u send a photo of the upgraded heatsink if u can please? Because ı want to upgrade it too but there isnt seem to be any enough space in the case so it can really help me to figure out.
