2023-10 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5031354) installs. But after install, no sound, and says no sound device is installed. System works just fine, but I can't seem to solve the sound/no sound device installed issue.

So far I have , reinstalled the Realtek Audio driver, the VGA NVIDIA video driver etc. , Computer about 15 mos. old, Mostly stock build. Did swap out for a larger hard drive right after buying it.

Not sure what else to do? Any help is appreciated.

Sometimes a simple system restore will fix the issue..

    Try windows x
click on power shell admin or command prompt admin or Terminal admin on windows 11
    type rstrui
chose an earlier date on which your computer was working fine
    click on next, finish, yes
It will restore your computer to an earlier date
if you get an message - system restore not completed - click on close
It will show you all the icons..
Try and check whether it is working now ..

No need to uninstall the Windows update or restore the system, just make sure internet is working and uninstall all Realtek Audio drivers in safe Mode with DDU: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000091878/graphics.html Don't install anything, just reboot and Windows11 will install the best audio driver, possibly a Microsoft driver. To get RTK Audio Console back, look for Realtek Audio Control in the Windows Store and install that one.

thank you for the responses. I am good.
restored to a good restore point

    Patiently applied update

    Updated each driver

Removed all peripherals including 2 monitors.
Working from laptop only plugged each peripheral back in.
upon plugging in Tc8210 reverb found that sound would always go to “no device installed “

That piece of hardware is out of the picture for now

    System is stable
