Acer x34p Black screen, Blue light, Dead monitor - Acer monitors issue, 2 burnt-out memory chips

Trying to start to document this issue as it seems it is quite a large problem for us owners of Acer predator monitors and future owners of this questionable quality product.

There are posts all over the internet on this problem which all seem to die or stop being investigated with no useful information at all.

Please if you have this issue reply in thread and lets actually start to try and collate all of our issues in one place so we can
1. Diagnose the problem since Acer refuses to acknowledge the problem and refuses to help users who were unlucky enough to have this happen out of warranty.
2. Get a list of affected monitors so people know what to expect with their big high-end gaming monitor that is made to fail when the warranty expires.
3. Try and find a fix for ourselves that a common user will be able to apply or tell their local repair shop how to apply the fix

I have an Acer x34p with this issue and Acer have said they will not help me so I am going to start ripping it apart to document and look at what could be causing the issue since it seems no one has actually tried themselves or found the cause of the problem.

I will be replying in here with my findings.

    Progress update
    There seem to be 2 burnt-out memory chips that feed the main processor on the Acer board, LG monitor board is clear and spotless so no panel or LED issues.
    We have new ones that have been ordered and will be going on once we receive them.

    Will reply in full once we confirm that this is actually the issue, The weird thing is that these should not be overheating in the first place which is interesting.

    Did you manage to solve the issue? I have the same exact problem just happened earlier today and honestly was bummed out as I have been using this monitor for more than 5 years and I had never faced any issues before. Also, How did you manage to identify the issue of "2 burnt-out memory chips"?

    They never came back with an update, but my guess is they determined the memory chips were toast by the burn marks on the board. :)

    Thanks @billsey . Hopefully the Acer service centre will be able to fix my monitor, otherwise time to get another one unfortunately.

    Hi,

    I have the same problem here with my Acer Predator Z301C.

    During the last months I solved the problem a few times disconnecting the power and reconnect - the last time I needed at least 20 attempts. Then I left the screen in Standby, amber LED when the screen wasn´t used. But now after a 1 week holiday nothing works anymore. I only get the blue LED on on ne reaction.

    So did you solve the problem?

    Did you sent in your Monitor to Acer? Did you get it fixed? How much was it?

    Send my Z301 to Acer Service end of february. They gave me a cost estimate and told me that the mainboard is broken and needs to be replaced. I agreed to repair it because the costs seemed ok for me.

    Unfortunately they sent it back to me about 7 weeks later unrepaired and told me that the needed spare parts weren´t available.

    so, if someone knows how to fix the mainboard, please tell us.
