Acer Predator Helios 300 2019 (PH315-52-78vl) Hinge kinda tight?

I started to notice that the hinges are quite tight. When I got it a year ago, I can remember opening it with one hand which I don't really do because I believe that it's a bad habit. Right now opening it with two hands supporting the bottom part, I do see the the lid/screen is flexing a little bit. Is this okay? If not what solutions do I have? I was thinking try to loosen the screws a little bit or using a lube. Are there any YouTube links for tutorials?

Over time, the grease in the hinge gets dry up. You can take the LCD bezel and the cover out, and use a plier to loosen just a bit of the outer hinge screw. This will greatly make the opening easier and avoid breaking the screw holes.

That may be the beginning of a cracked panel and screen, I recommend bringing the laptop to Acer Services in your country to fix this. For the time being open the lid in the middle a bit so you can get both your hands underneath and carefully push the lid fully open with your thumbs left and right at the BOTTOM of the bezel where the hinges are connected to the lid, avoid any flexing of the lid. Best not to close the lid anymore till you get it fixed. 😑

Sadly, the Acer Service Center is 1,941 km/1206.081 miles away where I live (I,m from Cali and Google Maps shows Texas is the nearest Center). Since I was already maintaining my Laptop since I got it last year from cleaning the fans and repasting, the Lid or the screen is where i put less attention because I did not expect that this would happen and I would like to do it myself. Aside from prying tool that I will be using, do I need a heat blower and an extra adhesive tape? or its just like a clip where i need to apply small pressure to put it back together again. What advice you could give me to avoid messing it up.

You don't need to personally go, I live on a remote farm and shipped my laptop for repairs with DHL had it back in under 2 weeks, door-to-door delivery but Express shipping is expensive.

You will need to pry off the LCD bezel and unscrew it to take the back LCD cover off. This will give you easier access to the hinge bolt.

Update! I was able to open it safely and the hinges without the screen attached is really tight! I was able to adjust the bolt and put like an atom of grease just in case. First, it was so loose that the screen wont stay where I want it to be. I did tighten it back and I was able to open with one hand and there is almost no flex. However when closing it and its on a 15 degree angle, it just falls like butter. Does it mean success? Or should I be worry of that? Or I should just consider it as a win.

As long the lid stays open at 45° angle so you can work, I would call it a win 😀

Oh so that's a win! Oh one question. There was a little accident happened. I broke one of the little clip on the lid where it holds the side of the metal. Is it okay?

I wouldn't worry about that, keep an eye on the flexing of the lid and if you see any bulging of the bezel at the bottom corners of the panel when you open the lid to maximum, that is not good. If you are careful opening the lid in the middle and assist the full opening with your thumbs at the bottom corners you should be OK and saved yourself some money. 😉
