Since the above 2 firmwares in over a year what or if anything can anyone break down the difference that have occured between the 2 and if the changes were signifcant and relevent to anny issue you may have had between the 2 or fireware in between leading up to 2.12 ......

The only thing I can recall is after the 2.08 update when my tablet's juice drained and the docking stations battery kicked in while that battery drained there was a transference of power back to the Tablet hence recharging it leaving it with a percentage of power ( at times close between 35 % to 45 % ) when the docking station died leaving me to be able to continue using the Tablet and than redocking it again as my dock woudl be fully charged by the time the tablet wa sabout to die again ....I assume everyone's worked this way ?

The reason I ask is because I am pretty adament in not upating my Tablet from it's orginal 1.0C that it came with since exchanging my 32 gig Model for my 64 gig I currently have as of the 3 weeks ago. My 32 gig had the 2.03 0r 2.08 whatever it was the firmware allowed the charging of the tablet from the dock when it was fully drainned and while in use ....and the issue with my speakers konking out at random ..although not as much since my 8.1 preview update ut none the less still is happening. Anyway that and only than woudl I actuall y consider it ...if the above is still possible with the 2.12 update. As or at least I hope everyone know once you update the Firmware/Bios there is no going back and no way to reverse it

Is something I have complained to Acer about before: the lack of a revision notice and a manifest in the driver and BIOS files.  All you can really do is open then side by side and do a global file compare (can set up a batch file to do).

yeah but you know yourself another baffling thing acer has done without explanation is do revisions on the same firmware without saying what was changed or why the same firmware version has increased in size numerous times ...I remember that with 2.08 3 different sizes it changed on release over a 4 month span ...Numerous people on here asked the same question for months and not one Acer Tech answered...funny how that works but they seem to chime in on the minimal of issues yet not the major ones

Is the kind of like the mule and the 2x4, first you must get their attention.

Am working where I can but first we have to change a cultural mindset that, unlike most manufacturers (HP, Dell, etc), treats changing the CMOS battery as a trade secret and does not allow references to even online Service Manuals. (probably am borderline on what they allow on the forum already).

What they need to understand (and hear it from more than just me) is that over the years open systems that encourage third parties always succeed better than closed ones.

I have looked at the driver packages before (said in the previous post how to do it) and the great bulk of the drivers date to 1.0. It would certainly help to know which drivers changed.

In the world there are two kinds of people: those who really do not like computers and want an appliance (Apple people) and nerds who need to know everything about a system (Linux). Most people are somewhere in the middle but those on forums like these are either semi-nerds, support people (Grandma was sold this computer at Walmart/Office Depot/Staples and I gotta fix it), or just normal people who somehow found the forum.

I am here primarily for two reasons:

    1) Turned around one day and most of my personal devices that weren't homebuilt were Acers

    2) On reflection, Acer/Intel/Microsoft seem to have a relationship that Acer is the pilot for many things.

Having been on the bleeding edge of technology (one project is wireless NAS for automotive use) for several generations now (2) is important. Also I have seen a lot of good technology founder because of poor support/management (BetaMax, PS/2, and TI 9900 series are cases in point - each was a  leap ahead that was poorly managed).

One of my other other hobbies is using the Internet to create obscure markets and I am concerned when I see a company making mistakes that will ultimately haunt them. Keeping tech information close and not hyping the next generation  is one.

If they are concerned about legal problems then an "unofficial guide" is the way to go. For an automotive example see allpar.com or the jeepgarage.com forums.

    Just some thoughts.

opening them side by side does tell you whats changed but it still doesnt tell you what they done in the change.

like the keyboard posting double letters - apparently its fixed in the new bios update but i have that installed and its still happening

also with the keyboard dock how does it work? does it charge the tablet? use the dock power first and then the tablet power? drain both together?

when charginng with the dock plugged in does it charge the tablet or dock or both?

do different firmware versions charge it differently?
