As far as I can know, which is not too much in terms of BIOS-related issues, I believe that it is not possible to update from R01 versions to R02 versions because they are for different generation processors, but it is possible to update from one version:
    R01-A to R01-B.
What is not possible is to update a version:
R01-A to R02-B for the reasons I explained above.

But please wait for more responses that may deny my information or confirm it.
Please do not try to update until you are sure of this information.

    Thank you.
    All the best.

@bjli43 no, you can not update the BIOS from A revision to B revision

Please remember to include @AnhEZ28 when you want to reply back to my comment so that I can check your response.
Thank you and have a nice day!
  • Hi @bjli43 BIOS updates must always be carried out with all possible precautions such as having the battery charged, connecting the device to the charger and not paying for the device during the process under any circumstances to prevent the board from being damaged.

A bit weird though, when it shows up
    on my pages, BIOS/firmware
    after entering my SNID.

Thank you for your response. No I will not upgrade.
I did not dare myself, so I turned here for clarity.

My expectation is that it will succeed without issues, as long as you don't drop power during the upgrade. As Alejandro said you typically only have to worry about major revision numbers, not the minor ones. We see changes to the major numbers for things like new motherboards within a model year or back when Windows 8 was new, BIOS versions for legacy vs UEFI boot environments.

    OK, thanks for the answer.
So it is possible to upgrade R01-A4 to R01-B1,
but not, for example, R01-A4 to R02-B1 because of the
different generation processors. Is that correct?
I don't want to destroy the BIOS.

My BIOS upgrade went well it seems.
But the first reboot it complained about CMOS and the battery,
and got stuck, I had to choose between F1 continue or go to BIOS.
I chose BIOS and then ran exit without saving anything.
Then I have restarted the computer several times without any error message.
Thank you all for your help.

Yes, the BIOS upgrade seems to work OK,
    And worked well before.

So apparently you should not upgrade the BIOS in that case,
unless you have something seriously wrong, I have read and heard

I have had several computers over the years,
with fairly similar BIOS menus, and have never had a problem
    with booting from USB.

But the one I have now, I do not feel at home with, do not see
    like any other BIOS.

I have tried several attempts to boot from the USB
    without success.

I have searched the internet and documentation
on ACER pages without finding anything.

So therefore I tried the BIOS upgrade, although I didn't really believe in it. And it doesn't work now either.
So I don't know what to do now.
It's not fun not being able to boot from USB.

  • To boot a Windows installation from a USB, it is important to create the USB with the ISO and the tool that Microsoft has on the Windows download page, connect the USB with the computer turned off, turn on the computer and press f12 repeatedly to obtain the boot device selection screen, does this work for you?
I don't think the problem is related to the BIOS but rather to the creation of the bootable USB.

    Thank you.
    All the best.

    Hi,

I created a boot USB with Rufus.
And have tried booting several times with F12.
But the only choice that comes up is Windows boot manager.

  • Create a USB from Microsoft with its tool, you don't lose anything by trying and it won't take long.
Microsoft's creation tool is more effective when it comes to disk and partition recognition:

    Thank you.
    All the best.

just right click the BIOS exe and select run as administrator that's it or do it from windows update, they are the same exact thing.

To boot from a USB you need two things, the F12 boot menu needs to be enabled in the BIOS and the USB drive needs to be bootable in an UEFI environment. What USB are you trying with? If it's not designed for UEFI it won't be listed in the boot menu.
