hi everyone. About a month ago I got this pc on sale for 1200 at busy buy, and they shipped it to me:

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/acer-predator-orion-5000-gaming-desktop-intel-core-i7-13700f-16gb-ddr5-memory-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3070-1tb-gen-4-ssd-black/6533960.p?skuId=6533960

The first week it started no problem, but then after a week before start up it would beep occasionally and flash images similar to this one:

I know now there are a bunch of different patters the glitch displays

all of a sudden today, It wasn’t really noticfully getting worse over time, but now on start up all the screen does is display the weird screen, turn black, and do it over and over again. It sits there for hours. Here’s a video:

the video shows what what happens; it’s the same thing over and over and over again

yesterday when the pc was running there was nothing wrong at all. Once it boots up there’s no problem

Please help me, I need this going for multiple reasons asap

Thanks

  • Hi @Clannad__ do I replace the Acer graphics driver with the manufacturer's driver that I think is NVidia?

You can indicate its exact model, its name is similar to: PO5-650

that's happened to me once and all i did was unplug the DP from the monitor and pc wait a few mins then plug them back in, my TV's do the same thing every now and again. i think it's an HDMI-DP handshake communication problem. but with a TV it's a lot easier i just restart it and it solves the issue. with my pc i noticed that doesn't help. one time i even had to plug in the HDMI cable that came with my monitor then once it came on i was able to switch back to the DP. really strange.

interesting. I do want to go beyond a temporary solution for this as I would prefer there be nothing wrong with my pc. What does that mean and how could I check/ fix it?

    Thanks

well, if that is what fixes it. then i know of nothing. it randomly happens to me and i have really high-quality DP and HDMI cables from my acer predator monitor to my acer predator Orion 5000 so who knows. just like with my very expensive tv to my Roku ultra or anything that's plugged into it. sometimes when i turn them on i have that same issue.

The issue is pretty obviously a corrupted video output. It could be a hardware problem, a driver problem or even a storage drive problem. First attempt a driver upgrade as suggested to try and isolate it. If it's the same with a new driver then it is much more likely to be hardware and start on the warranty route (or swap it back with your vendor if it's been a short enough time since purchase). If the driver update works, but it still gives problems of a different type, then it might be the drive corrupting data written to it. Usually that type of issue doesn't focus on one device though, you end up with corruption all over the place.
