I was told by the store that it's fine to use the laptop while charging. But when it's reached 100% battery percentage, do I unplug the charger, or can I leave it still charging although it's reached 100%?

Please, I'm dying to know, because FYI it's my second battery. It just got repaired because of the issue that it is plugged in, says charging but stuck at 0%. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

Leave the USB-C charger or power adapter plugged-in 24/7 without any consequences for the battery. Power will be diverted automatically when the battery reached 100% charge, you cannot overcharge or damage the battery unless you use a wrong adapter. What will damage any battery is depleting it to zero charge but not by charging it after it after 100%.

It is generally recommended to unplug your laptop charger when the battery reaches 100%. This is because keeping the battery at 100% for extended periods of time can reduce its lifespan.

When the battery is fully charged, the charger will continue to provide power to the laptop, but the excess power will be converted to heat. This heat can damage the battery over time.

Additionally, keeping the battery at 100% can lead to battery swelling. Battery swelling can cause the battery to become unstable and eventually fail.

If you need to leave your laptop plugged in for an extended period of time, it is best to set the battery charging limit to 80%. This will help to extend the lifespan of your battery.

Here are some tips for extending the lifespan of your laptop battery:

    • Avoid letting the battery completely discharge.
    • Avoid keeping the battery at 100% for extended periods of time.
    • Set the battery charging limit to 80%.
    • Use a cooling pad to help keep your laptop cool.
    • Avoid using your laptop in hot environments.
    • Avoid using your laptop while it is charging.

By following these tips, you can help to extend the lifespan of your laptop battery and reduce the risk of battery failure.

In your case, since this is your second battery and it just got repaired for the issue of being stuck at 0%, it is best to err on the side of caution and unplug the charger when the battery reaches 100%. This will help to ensure that the battery lasts as long as possible.
