Nitro 5 AN517-54 - GPU Frame rate is awful below Max Performance.

(msinfo txt attached )

I should state that 8 months ago when I purchased the system, I would be able to run Lost Ark on Maximum (high end) graphics settings while maintaining a standard 40-70fps.

The game is barely running at over 60 with the lowest settings applied and performance set to high. I encounter random game crashes with no errors displayed from time to time also.

For this to work, I have to manually disable the nvidia gpu in the device manager and then re-enable it.

If I don't then the game runs on what appears to be the cpu with an awful standard of 19fps.

Another thing to note is that I am no longer able to see the Directx 9 and 11 Graphics options in-game. The dev has confirmed there was no game updates which would impact any of the settings in any way as of late.

When running the performance gfx overlay thingy, the game occupies almost the entirety of my ram memory usage (6gb+). gpu clock speed as it shows 1450 mhz on normal game usage, even when minimised and it can spike above 2k+ randomly when game files are loading. also,  No more than 20 watt appear to be going into the gpu power. This appears to be considered low for a gpu of this range.

all drivers are up to date. downloaded from the acer page.

I uninstalled both graphics drivers using DDU in safe mode or safe boot to ensure a clean installation is performed. I even tried with a previous ver of the nvidia graphics driver and the result was worse than the current case.

Following a long string of troubleshooting conversation with Zia from NVIDIA Customer Care, I have been advised to post here to check if you have any Bios updates that can fix this issue.

The Bios ver is also up to date.

Please help!

I am happy to contact the store I have purchased this from and report the unit as faulty since I believe my contract warranty will cover it.

In order

The nvidia received an update two or three days ago if I’m not mistaken.

Am I missing something in regards to the processor, please?

Interesting workaroud. My nephew has the same laptop and the same issue appeared last Saturday according to him. He reached me out tonight for help :D

For now our workaround was to reinstall NVIDIA driver that solves this situation as well (until you either turn off the laptop, turn it to sleep or reboot).

    I'll try your solution tomorrow!

Forgot to mention that the GPU is stuck in P8 state, that's why the perfs are so bad. Only the driver reinstall turn it back to P0.

Got a bit more info about this.
Your nephew’s probably tried running a game at a battery level which conflicted with the fan speeds and performance setting plans set up/controlled by the brand’s in home software settings (which at this date, they seem unreachable to adjust) and the power saving mode was forcefully triggered.

Unfortunately, whoever allowed this to happen/ work either got away with it or is in a position to not give a d*** about the outcome but:

THIS TRIGGERWD/AUTOMATIC CHANGE DOES NOT REVERT BACK TO DEFAULT/PREVIOUS STATE WHWN THE CONSITIONS. ARE MET.

I’m still working on the issue but set your power plan settings to max performance (manually) in control panel, have cool boost active, reinstall the gpu driver in safe mode after removing it with the 3rd party program thingy and clear all the saved settings and files in your C drive using disk cleanup, update the remaining of the drivers using the updated versions in the Acer website and allow the nvidia graphic settings to let the application decide for most if not all the settings.

You can disable all the overlays used if any too.

This will help the frames issues to an extend but your RAM will still take the blow.
