This must be a common thing with these new Nitro laptops, also there is NO such thing as a 14th Gen Nitro or any laptop😁newest Nitro is the 13th Gen or the next oldest is the 12th Gen from Acer. But this same problem happened to me with my brand-new 11th Gen out of the box Nitro 5 AN515-56 laptop, so you are not alone.

What you do is you need to do a Hard Reset. You only need to open the laptop back base cover, disconnect and take the main battery out first, disconnect the RTC/BIOS battery that is underneath and then reconnect everything, you don't need to take the ram out but you can if you want to and just disconnecting the batteries doesn't work, as a faulty ram can also cause a boot fault, as unplugging the main and bios batteries resets the Super IO and the Chipset chips and you should have no more booting and turning on problems with your new Nitro laptop. This is what I did and its worked 100% and I've never ever had any problems since, and this is 18 months later. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Still under warranty, I recommend bringing the laptop to Acer Services in your country to check it, include the power adapter/charger.

Must be the 12th gen :) Poorest quality sticker on the back, everything is worn off. First time Ive ever seen that happen on any laptop.

Im not sure why but my posts are being concatenated when I use my phone. Everything I explained is missing.

I was charging it outside, was camping, no rain or anything like that, I unplugged it and took it into tent. at the windows login screen I put in my numbers and when I hit enter the screen filled with lines and freaked out then froze. I held the power button till it went off and turned it back on, after the little keyboard light up sequence it froze.. no screen action at all. So I tied again and now not even the keyboard lights up.

I can still see amber light on the side when its plugged in and the blue light comes on when I turn it on.. but thats it.. its dead. I also noticed that the upper right area above the num pad gets really really hot.

Should I still attempt a hard reset after it exhibited these things? I have a feeling it's bricked.

ok, I did the hard reset.. no go. Whatever is under the ram (cpu or gpu?) is getting hot so Im guessing mosfet short or a screwed chip. Off to the repair shop I go.. fingers crossed.

just took it into the shop and after I told the tech about how it went down he kinda gave me a look and said "I see a lot of these, I'll see what I can do" so I dont have high hopes my $2000 CDN wont just be flushed down the toilet after 4 months of use. I never liked this thing anyways.. runs so ***** hot and those bloody fans never ever shut off, I could hear them ramp up just browsing youtube, and when running an easy game like WoW it sounded like a jet was ready to take off.

These are things Ill tell myself to help me cope with losing $2000 in record time ;) I will NOT buy another ACER I know that much.

That sound like a screen issue, that its eDP cable/plug is either lose or its plug is shorted at the mainboard or screen or lastly a faulty screen or even a gpu issue, which I'm sure that the tech will diagnose and find out what the issue is? Seeing that you can't tell us what model number your laptop is, I can't tell you specifically what parts you will need or if its a common issue. You will have to boot the laptop up and try to get the system info up, as your laptop model number is listed there. Good luck and hope things get sorted out, but let us know what the problem was.

Even so Acer Services will check a new laptop, opening a laptop to upgrade not always voids the warranty, depends on the country.

Little update… i called to check up on it and he said "no screen and no fans and not booting but there's still power to the board, I can feel components getting warm but it might be the motherboard and if it is its a difficult motherboard to get in north america but I'll know more when I complete my diagnostics"

I dont want to sound like a naynay but I already knew all that lol.. thats what I told him when I brought it in about there still being power and components getting warm. I just think he hadnt looked at it yet. He will call me in a few hours with an answer.

Is that true tho about the MB for a Nitro 5 being almost impossible to get in NA? That seems weird to me, I thought the Nitro 5 was popular gaming laptop.

Repair guy called last night and said motherboard is dead.

I went out and bought an MSI GF63 but im not meshing with it. The keyboard backlight is dark red, didnt think id care but i dont like it for some reason. The zero key is mushy and doesnt have that mild click to it like all the other keys so im never sure i pressed it properly which caused me to pause every time and check. Also, I had one of these 3 years ago and the chassis is cheap and flimsy and the hinges broke on it so Im gonna bring this back and try another.

    it is 13th gen i7, rtx4060 and 16g ddr5 512g ssd. $1299 cdn.

Any suggestions on a decent laptop with around the same performance and price?

    Thank you.
