Hi all! I really like feature when I close the lid and my laptop hibernate after some time. But sometimes laptop is switching off suddenly after lid closed! It is very annoying when you close the lid and loose all opened windows and loose files.
Is it Windows 11 problem or Acer problem?
Is it hardware or software problem?
Can I repair this or I should by new laptop?

Go to Power Plan "Change what closing the lid does" set for all lid actions to "Do nothing". Disable hibernate and Fast Startup in "Change settings that currently unavailable". Don't use the Power Button on the keyboard to shut down but click on the Start icon in Taskbar, Power and Shutdown.

  • What is the exact model? Example: SF315-52-5890.

The link below shows how to check the Power States supported by your system (S0-S3), these settings can be switched with closing the lid action in BIOS. "Modern-standby" as sleep mode is called now with "Input suppression" can be a pain in new laptops by conflicting power settings in Bios, Windows and vendor code ("Custom" power plan). I keep Fast Startup, Hibernate and lid actions disabled (2023 laptop), but had to tweak Registry to stop daily win32k Event warnings 700 and 701 with my charger disconnected (see 2nd link below).

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/customize/power-settings/power-controls-enableinputsuppression

  • I also advise updating drivers and bios.

Yeah, it's a power plan thing. I'm betting that when AC is applied and you close the lid it sleeps instead of hibernating. While sleeping it uses battery if you have unplugged the power. That means at some point after closing it then disconnecting power you could run into a low battery situation, and likely low battery has it turning off instead of hibernating. You need to either change the powered on close lid action to hibernate or the low battery action to hibernate in order to get it working as you'd like.

No, it's is not a power plan thing. When power disconnected (instead of hibernate or sleep) there are no discharged battery. After this situation a see 95% of charge.
Once i saw disconnected power when i closed the lid for a 1 minute. Just sit and work, close the lid, wait 1 minute and open lid. AC didn't connected, battery was charged and I lost my opened files and programs.

OK, so you don't have hibernate enabled at any time. Let look at the advanced power settings for your power plan:

Specifically the battery actions like what I'm showing.

In my case the laptop doesn't shutdown properly. I disabled fast startup and modern standby yet the issue persists. When I try to boot it up it shows a black screen only keyboard lights up. But when i shut it down on linux mint it closes properly. So i am sure this is a Windows 10/11 problem.

Hopefully we can find a solution. It is troublesome to boot into linux everytime i want to shutdown the laptop.

Should i just set it to just shutdown for battery action?

No, Hibernate is correct. Starting from hibernation gives you the same apps and windows at startup as were running before. Same with sleep. Shutdown seems to be what's happening now. Try going to power options; system settings and enable hibernation. Maybe with it disabled it chooses shutdown instead.

I advise updating the bios. EC stands for embedded controller: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embedded_controller

I have a similar restart issue. Mine, 1 of 10 times restart the PC after I plug it in. And the Acer Care app is always in initializing mode when I restart it. I always need to restart the service for it to work. It's so strange and frustrating. The quick-access app isn't like that. So it's that the app is not compatible with windows for a strange reason. Anyone who has found a solution? I have read previous threads and they have not worked. :(

@Hazamashke94 you are asking a question about the Acer Care Center app, which doesn't fit this thread well. It would be better for you to ask your question in a new thread. Include your full model number. Your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like xxxxx-xxx-xxxx. Describe the issue you are seeing and what you have tried so far to fix it. Also include any error messages you see and which OS is on your system.
