Hi! My laptop suddenly froze while showing me a battery icon when I restarted it. How can I fix this?
This is possibly a feature in Acer Care Center as I have not seen this before. IMO the icon means that the power being supplied is not sufficient to charge the battery. The screen is black (BSOD) so you crashed. Check the adapter DC output with a multimeter and replace the battery if it is more than 4 years old. Since you screen has power, I don't think this is BIOS and/or stray (static) current related but it wouldn't hurt trying the Hard Reset and Power Drain procedures recently described in this forum.
I also think it would be interesting to inform the computer model. Example AN515-55-5890. From the picture, I think it's an aspire vero model.
My laptop is new though. I just bought it last year around November. I found the same issue here and tried the suggested procedure and something happened. It got stuck in the acer logo with a subtext saying "please wait while we install system update" but an hour later, it's still going. I tried waiting until the battery emptied, but when I charged it, it got back to the low battery icon. It still displays the icon even if the laptop is fully charged (I saw the blue LED light on the side). What should I do? Please help me
@Lara_mae it is trying to update the BIOS. If you are still getting the low battery icon even when it is charged, hold the power button to turn off the laptop and power it on again.
I would first let the battery fully charge with the notebook turned off. Then turn on the computer.
