If you don't want to deal with Acer doing a repair for you, then open it up and try reseating the cable that runs between the motherboard and display. It handles all display functions, including both the active digitizer and the capacitive touch screen (not to mention camera and microphone).

There should be tape holding it in place and then a latch that holds the actual cable connector. If you live in a humid environment, or one that might have more than typical level of contamination, that connector can build up some corrosion over time and cause weird failures.

It's also possible the issue is software, but extremely unlikely to be a BIOS issue. The touchscreen sits on an I2C port off the chipset, so anything that might disrupt serial communications could affect it. The key drivers for that are the chipset drivers from Intel.

Return the laptop to the retailer or send it to Acer Services in your country to check the screen while still under warranty.

I've tried installing the BIOS to the first one when it was originally shipped with…..I formatted a USB and reinstalled the BIOS using Fn+Esc pressed and then pressing the power button. It does the job but still the laptop upgrades it to the latest one when connected to the internet and vice-versa when not connected.. as it stores the latest bios firmware and cannot be deleted.

Still the old BIOS didn't work as expected. But the Icon appears when folding it to tablet mode.

the icon shows when old BIOS was installed when in tent-mode/tablet-mode.. but the newer version of BIOS doesn't show anything except it changes the size of the taskbar to tablet-mode size .

The surprising thing is the stylus-pen works flawlessly but the touch doesn't .!

I'm fed up with these acer community solutions and tried what I know of my previous laptop configurations.

I have a Samsung Book S that's also touchscreen works incredibly fine. But isn't 2-in-1.

And lastly acer service center isn't near my location and hence not gonna get it repaired .

i know its a software issue…and can be fixed.

How's your device's touchscreen now? Is it working well now?
If yes, please share what troubleshooting steps you did to fix the issue.

I have the same issue in my Spin 3 laptop and I tried everything but nothing works.

How's my device's touchscreen?….haha… its still dead for sure !

i haven't worked on any solution yet!

I just use it as my 2ndary laptop just keeping as a backup laptop.

Q> what really happened to your laptop? anything weird before the touchscreen went dead?'

»other than that I use the pen always I got a habit of it now!!

—>Will FOR SURE update if any-solution/fix comes up!😄

(i wish i had gone for any other brand for a 2-in-1.)

How unfortunate we are choosing this device. If only I knew this issue before I wouldn't be stressed this much. 🙄😤

Well actually, this problem occurred when I did the system update. Later I found out that the touchscreen just stopped working.

I just hope ACER TEAM/DEVELOPER will do something about this ASAP because this is a major issue that they should not ignore! 😔
